Research shows that motorcyclists and drivers have very different visual perceptions of what is going on around them. Do you feel like being a motorcyclist makes you a safer and more aware road user?

Midwest Track Day 04.12.2020

Hello and Happy Holidays! I hope you’re all healthy and well. I know this year was trying for all of us but, our MTD family came through and made the best of 2020. I'm confident you’re all doing the same with work, school, and life in general. You’re all fighters for sure. Looking forward to 2021..... We’ve decided to try out a different format than we’ve been using since 2013. We’re going to cut 5 riders total per day, and move to a 4 group format. Novice, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, and Advanced. Our goals for this are to; * First, spread everyone out a bit more. In the past we maxed our groups at 1 bike per 100 yards. With the new format we’ll be freeing up another 500-1000 yards of space each session. * Secondly, with smaller group sizes, riders will be able to get more focused coaching and will be better prepared for the next level when they get the bump. * Third, with this format I’m hoping to cut down on red flags/crashes, and ideally have more green flag laps each day. Where do I fit in with this new format? We’ll be making adjustments throughout the year. So, don’t stress on it too much. Like I said above, we’re cutting out 5 riders total each day and will have smaller groups. So, moving someone from one group to another won’t be a big deal. Here’s a description of the new groups - Novice Group is for experienced street riders looking to improve their skills and become safer riders. Passing is limited to straights. Intermediate Group 1 is for riders with some track experience who are looking for a moderate pace and are familiar with the flags, pit in/out procedures. Passing limited to straights in the morning sessions, with outside passing open after lunch. Intermediate Group 2 is for experienced track riders. Passing on straights and on the outside for the morning sessions, with inside passing open after lunch. Advance Group is for track day veterans and licensed racers. The pace will be accelerated with safe passing allowed in every section of the track. Sessions will start every 15 minutes. If everyone absolutely hates the change, we’re not opposed to going back to three groups in 2022. I just ask that you all give it a chance. This isn’t something I’m doing so we can sell more spots, we'll actually be selling less each day. I’m just trying to get everyone more from our events. More coaching, more clean and green laps, and more space. Oh, and maybe a few less gray hairs for myself Registration is now open for all of our 2021 events. Link to registration - http://www.midwesttrackday.com/registration 2021 season passes are also available now. Link to passes - http://www.midwesttrackday.com/season-passes
