Mini-Gastric Bypass 16.07.2021

STAR OF THE WEEK I had MGB in March of 2015. Over the course of many years, had tried many ways, many times to lose weight. I would lose some and gain it back, with some added to it. I constantly thought about my weight, how heavy I was, about how bad I looked and felt. I didn't find pleasure in going places because of my weight, I was embarrassed by the way I looked. I didn't find pleasure in buying clothes because I couldn't believe the size I had to buy was always ...Continue reading

STAR OF THE WEEK 17 months ago, at age 33, Dr. Hargrder gave me the tool to take back the life I have longed for. My weight the day of surgery was 278, size 22 jeans. I currently weigh 174 and wearing a size 10. Only 4 lbs from the goal Dr. H set for me! I feel better than I have in YEARS! I am a wife, mother of 4 young children, and a farmer. I didn’t realize just how much my weight was holding me back until I started to loose the weight. I can do things in all aspec...ts of my life that I wouldn’t have been able to do before MGB. I no longer have pre-diabetic symptoms. No more constant back and feet pain. I sleep better than I have in years and I can walk upstairs without being winded. A week before I had MGB we took our kids to Silver Dollar City for Christmas. Our youngest child begged me to ride the rollercoaster with him. I was certain I was not going to fit but I thought I would try. Nope the bar would not latch so I could not ride. Sure, it was embarrassing, but I knew a year from then I would not have that issue again. The first day I realized my 7-year-old could wrap her arms completely around me to hug me was AMAZING! Being able to participate at the local trampoline park was something that excited my kids just as much as it did me. The health benefits are great, but the ability to do things with and for your family that your weight held you back from before is the best feeling in the world! I am also able to ride my husband’s motorcycle with him. Something I would have not done before, because I knew it wouldn’t be comfortable for me or him. He was so excited and proud of my progress when we went on our first ride together last summer. I had researched and asked questions about the MGB for several years before taking the leap of faith. After trying so many other diet options out there that did not work, I knew it was time that I did something for myself that would ultimately change my family’s life as well. This is NOT the easy way out by any means, it’s a tool to help you gain your life back. A tool I will forever be grateful for! Julie Block

STAR OF THE WEEK For as long as I can remember, I have always been the largest person in the group, wether it was at work, or with friends, and family. Although no one judged me for my size, I did; I was ashamed of myself. This may sound stupid, but I am kinda thankful for the health issues that arose from my weight, the high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, and lots of joint pain, because without them I would have never considered having weightloss surge...ry. After talking with my wife and daughter about it, they convinced me to just go for it, so after figuring out the financing, I put down my deposit, one of the scariest, and most exciting things I ever did. It was however one of the best decisions in my life. I started my journey on December 4th, 2019 at 413.2 pounds, in sizes 52 in jeans, and 4X in shirts. 16 1/2 months later, I am now 230.2 pounds, in size 36-38 jeans, and XL shirts. My personal goal of 250 seemed impossible to me, but it came and went, and I'm now just a pound away from what Dr. Hargroder said would be a realistic goal. After my decision to proceed with the surgery was made, I was visiting with Carla, and I'll remember this forever, she told me that I was going to absolutely melt, boy was she right. I feel so much better, and I am able to do things I haven't done in many years. For the first time in about 25 years I was able to ride a roller coaster, I'm able to do my gold prospecting without getting winded. I was able to climb to the top of Tybee Island lighthouse outside of Savannah without any issues, the same lighthouse that a few years earlier tried it's best to kill me several times. I had to stop every few steps to catch my breath. I believe this procedure has truely saved my life, and I'm so thankful to Dr. Hargroder and his staff for giving me such an awsome tool.
