Everyone’s journey starts somewhere. I wasn’t an athletic kid growing up. I enjoyed playing sports but being home-schooled, it wasn’t something I had many opportunities for, and I was a musician who spent more time moving my hands and fingers than my arms and legs. When I went to college, I started living the good life, regularly treating myself to Dairy Queen’s chili cheese fries and Braum’s ice cream with my buds. I loved spending time with my friends but hated how I fe...lt: lethargic, fluffy, uncomfortable in my jeans and in my own skin. I decided to make a change but had no idea really where to start, but my daddy always said Do something even if it’s wrong. So I started watching what I ate, counting my calories, subbing whole wheat for white, FORCING myself to eat an occasional vegetable, and going to the YMCA where I confined myself to the women-only room, mostly walking/running on the treadmill and occasionally doing something with the weight machines. I lost weight, got healthier, felt better, and felt like I got my life back. Flash forward to 2011: I had continued to exercise and try to eat healthy, but I was stagnant. Someone introduced me to the Insanity program. I’ll never forget that first Fit Test: I thought I was decently fit, but boy did it humble me! I could hardly do any pushups on my toes, and I just laughed at the jumping movements. No way I could do that! But a few weeks into the program, it happened! I went for it and I did it: I got airborn! The thing I thought I’d never do (those nasty Power Jumps and Diamond Jumps ) I was able to do. Insanity got me in the best shape of my life but more importantly, it taught me that I could do HARD THINGS, that my body was capable of being pushed to achieve big things, and that I as a human could achieve bigger things. I’ve come to love lifting weights and I no longer feel out of place in a gym or in a weight room, but Insanity will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart because it taught me to BELIEVE and it is what truly started my journey. Let me be a part of your journey, let me help you get started, let me walk beside you and make you believe in yourself, that you too are capable of doing big things!! I won’t promise that the journey will be easy, but I promise you won’t be alone. Join me and my crew tomorrow morning at 9:00 at Millennium Family Fitness. Everything is modifiable depending on where you are on your journey, and like Daddy always said, Do something even if it’s wrong. See more

Do any Millennium fitness members wonder what motivates me to teach and exercise? Where does my committment to fitness and you all come from? In general, I love to work out because it gives me the opportunity to push myself, physically, outside my comfort zone. Working out in the early morning is my favorite. I know that is the one thing I have control over and no matter what else happens in the day I can handle it. I started taking spin when my family and I joined MFF. ... MFF has offered several different spin instructors and they have all been wonderful. There really is no sweat like a spin class sweat! After a couple of years, I was asked to sub here and there for spin and I loved it. Then, I had the opportunity to get certified with Les Mills- RPM. I jumped on it. I teach the 5:10 morning classes on Monday and Friday. I know from being a student, that if you are getting up that early to get a workout in, you want the biggest bang for your buck. I like to pair fun, energetic music with routines that not only burn fat and calories, but also strengthen your muscles. I like to push everyone to get the most out of their workout and they push me to be a better instructor. I am married to Joe Hensley, who often joins my class. We have two children, Ella and Joseph. I am a secretary at the Webb City R7 School District in the administrative building. My life right now is focused on getting kids from point a to point b. However, I really enjoy taking classes anytime I can at MFF. I would encourage everyone to try all the classes at MFF. There is definitely something here for everyone.
