Meet Ryan Talkington from Bowling Green, Missouri. He is an MFA Ag Experience intern this summer, and he has had the opportunity to travel all across the state ...for his summer project. Ryan did not grow up on a farm, but through people in his community pouring into him, he grew to love agriculture. Ryan is going into his senior year at Northwest Missouri State University, where he studies agricultural education. He also manages hogs on the university farm. Through his project, Ryan has noticed his ability to connect with producers and find solutions to help them. He said he thinks this ability to relate to others will help him as he pursues either work in agricultural sales or agricultural education. #agexperience #intern #agronomy #fertilizerimpregnation

MFA is proud to be member-owned since 1914 when seven farmers met at a one-room schoolhouse near Brunswick, Mo., to discuss an article by William Hirth calling ...for the formation of farm clubs. Soon they placed the first cooperative order for 1,150 pounds of baler twine. From the time it was formally established and still today, MFA accepts membership from any farmer who participates at a minimum level of business. Meet Larna Schnitker. She is a fourth-generation row crop and cattle farmer from Middletown, Missouri. This summer, Larna is working with MFA’s Health Track and... Power Calf programs. Throughout high school, Larna participated in 4H and FFA, and by her senior year, she had become heavily involved with operations on her family farm working ground, doing maintenance and helping select the genetics for the cattle. Larna is now a junior studying ag business at the University of Missouri. While in college, she works as a teaching assistant for classes both related and unrelated to agriculture. However, she still makes time to go back home on weekends and work on the farm. Larna’s family have been MFA customers for a long time, and this summer, she was looking for an experience that would provide future career opportunities to earn a steady income so she can support her family farm. The Ag Experience internship was a potential fit. I wanted to apply because I had always seen people who worked for MFA just be in a really good attitude and really seem to love their job and stay there for a long time, Larna said. I’d say most of my coworkers have been here for 20 years or more, and I think that’s just a true testament to the type of company they are. #mfa #agexperience #intern #powercalf #farming
