Well look what happened yesterday, Lanny Cooper plays #4 singles for LS West High School and the team finished 3rd in the Missouri State Championships!!! Congratulations Lanny and the rest of the LS West team!!!

Today was a sad day for me. Natalie started playing with me at Hilltop before her freshman year and has continued with me a METC. She not only played Varsity starting her sophomore year but was my daughters doubles partner her Junior year. Today she took her last junior group lesson, best of luck at K-State Natalie, I for one will miss you a lot!!

Jaxson a freshman at Lee’s Summit High School had an exceptional 1st year of tennis, he won JV MVP and was the first freshman to win the Team Tiger Award. (Team spirit, team player, etc). Congratulations Jaxson, I am super proud of you and can’t wait to see the player you become!!!

Today was the last class with Ellie Nedomova ( middle purple shirt) as she was a foreign exchange student here attending LS North and will be heading back home on June 1. She will be greatly missed as she was a true bright light of our classes. I once asked her what the difference was between my teaching style and her coaches back home, she said you play music, smile and tell us we did a great job. That makes my heart smile every time I go back to that.

Congratulations to St Michaels- Oliver Wellman and his partner Chris Oberkrom on their 5th place finish at State today. Couldn’t be more proud of you Oliver.

Today was the last day Natalie and Ella will play a high school match for Blue Springs South High School. I couldn’t be more proud of the woman they have become and I’m incredibly fortunate to have been able to be there coach. A little of my heart will always be with the two of you. Much love to both of you!!!

This weekend was one for the ages. The boys high school season was suppose to happen this past spring with the the season culminating in May for the Boys Missouri High School Tennis Championship. Well Covid came and I thought it ruined the season for all the boys. But they actually had an unsanctioned State Tournament. They invited everyone who made State last year, as well as the sectional winners from last years season to participate. A huge shout out to Luke David and Just...in House. They played there final High School matches. I couldn’t be more proud of these two young men, they have truly been huge role models for all the kids at METC. Grant Idoux also participated in the singles tournament. Here’s where it gets pretty amazing. In the Unsanctioned Doubles State Tournament, Carter McIntosh and his partner Sean Nguyen won a thrilling 3 set match to win the title. Carter has worked extremely hard to show that he belongs at that level and today his hard work paid off. Super proud of the boys. See more

Without a doubt the Summer Slam Series is a great tournament series for the kids. They get to experience playing at the Novice, JV and Varsity levels. The kids from METC fought hard at all levels during the two slams this year and we ended up with a 1st and 2nd place in the KC Summer Slam Series - Boys Varsity Division 1st place Carter McIntosh 2nd place Justin House

3rd day of the Slam with Mixed Doubles, JV Girls Singles, Novice Boys and Girls Singles. In Mixed Doubles Carter McIntosh and his partner Ashley Cooper took 2nd place and Justin House and his partner Ryan Deaton took 3rd place and in Boys Novice Singles, Emery Kirchhoff took 3rd place. They are announcing the top players rankings from all the slams tomorrow morning and I’m pretty sure we will have some hardware to announce, super proud of these kids.

2nd day of the slam, Varsity Boys Singles, JV Boys Singles, Varsity Girls Doubles and JV Girls Doubles. In Boys Varsity Singles Carter McIntosh took 1st and Jus...tin House took 3rd. Well we are into the 2nd slam, today we had Girls Varsity Singles, Boys Varsity Doubles and Boys JV Doubles. Well we ended up with some medals in the Boys Varsity and JV Doubles. In the Varsity division Justin House and Grant Idoux took 1st place and Carter McIntosh (special picture of Carter) and his partner took 3rd place and in the JV division Brendan Honn and Judson McIntosh took 3rd place, both these boys are only going to be in 8th grade and were playing kids who will be sophomores and juniors. Super proud of them.
