We’re busy recording the soundtrack for The Snowy Day and Other Stories by Ezra Jack Keats! Puppeteers Zachery Garner and Shawna Peña-Downing will be performing the puppetry live, but their voices will be recorded so that everyone in the theater (audiences and actors alike) can be masked. We’re excited that The Coterie is presenting our production of this play at Crown Center this holiday season! Tickets and safety information available here: https://thecoterie.org/performance/snowy-day#.X6lnI5NKhR0
What sort of Christmas carols would a wiener dog sing? Find out in this clip from our virtual performance of Jingle Jamboree! While live, in-person performances haven’t been possible recently, we are grateful for the virtual opportunities we’ve been able to provide to libraries, classrooms, performing arts centers and other groups. Reaching families in this way has only been possible with support from people like YOU! Please consider an end-of-year gift to Mesner Puppet Theater to help us bring the magic of puppetry to children in KC and beyond in new and innovative ways. For our production of The Snowy Day and Other Stories of Ezra Jack Keats, we’re building puppets of Peter’s parents. When we first produced this play, the puppeteers played those roles. This time around, the puppeteers will be masked for safety, so we needed to build two new puppets! Here’s Peter’s father, whose head is carved out of styrofoam and covered in paper mache. Catch The Snowy Day this holiday season at The Coterie Theatre at Crown Center!
