Memor Spiritus LIFE 12.07.2021

In honor of Women’s History Month, we at Memor Spiritus LIFE will be paying tribute, over the next few weeks, to women who have made significant contributions to the world. This week we will be focusing on Marie Curie: Marie Skodowska Curie , born Maria Salomea Skodowska; 7 November 1867 4 July 1934), was a Polish and naturalized- French physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. As the first of the Curie family legacy of five Nobel Prizes..., she was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first and the only woman to win the Novel Prize twice, and the only person to win the Nobel Prize in two scientific fields. She was the first woman to become a professor at the University of Paris in 1906. (Source - Wikipedia) To explore Marie Curie’s life in more depth, consider this biography by Barbara Goldsmith: https://smile.amazon.com/Obsessive-Genius-Inne//0393327485 or this biography by Lauren Redniss : https://smile.amazon.com/Radioactive-Marie-Pie//0062416162 which was adapted into the 2019 British film, Radioactive, starring Rosamund Pike.

In honor of Black History Month, we at Memor Spiritus LIFE will be paying tribute, over the next few weeks, to African American men and women who have made significant contributions to America and the rest of the world. This week we will be focusing on Harriet Tubman: Harriet Tubman (born Araminta Ross, c. March 1822 March 10, 1913) was an American abolitionist. Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and subsequently made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved peopl...e, including family and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. During the American Civil War, she served as an armed scout and spy for the Union Army. In her later years, Tubman was an activist in the movement for women's suffrage. (source: Wikipedia) Clearly Harriet Tubman lived a life of impact and inspired many, especially those in the African American community. If you’d like to have a positive impact on the African American community, please consider visiting the Movement for Black Lives website via the link below: HOME - M4BL Artwork featuring the above image and images of other influential African Americans can be found at our Memor Spiritus Life - Black History Collection on redbubble: memorspiritus's shop
