A message shared from the boss-lady’s personal page This has been the most difficult year I’ve ever seen in my industry. I’ve pivoted so many different directions trying to stay afloat I’m not really sure where I’m headed anymore. I watch as my business slows to a trickle during the week and oftentimes we’re completely empty during peak times. I see iconic restaurants closing all around me with even more on the brink of collapse. I often worry how we will make it as a b...usiness, but I have faith, perseverance and a belly full of fire. I will not yield. Yet through all this my crew has stood resolute and ready to rise to any occasion. They saw us through shut down, curbside and delivery- took the abuse for wearing masks and then more abuse for enforcing masks. I employ adults with young families of their own and their livelihood weighs so heavy on my chest sometimes it’s hard to breathe. This year they deserve big bonuses and a huge Christmas party. Ya know what, we all do. But there are no bonuses to give and there will be no large gathering. Instead I have to cut hours. I worry so much about the Christmases their children will have or if they’re making enough to afford a good holiday meal. It seems bleak. And it’s all too heavy. My weight was lifted with the help of our compassionate community. Even before Stephanie’s tip challenge another group of women silently gave two families a donation that will allow them to put presents under the tree for their kiddos. Asking nothing in return they tipped my staff for meals they’ve missed around our tables. I can’t begin to tell you what it means to me to see my work family cared for in such a way. My heart is blessed and my faith in humanity renewed. Thank you a million times over for your kindness. If you share anything this season, let it be kind.
