Join us THIS FRIDAY for the season's first MARSH Cooperative Outdoor Grocery Market, 6917 S. Broadway, 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tons of MARSH Garden produce, MARSH Kitchen baked goods and prepared foods, and natural and organic foods, ALL on a SLIDING SCALE. Everyone welcome. Masks required.
The MARSH Food Ecosystem is becoming a reality with a new farm plot to supply fresh produce to the community and the early stages of a storefront grocery store to supply the highest quality food at the lowest possible prices to our neighbors and anyone city-wide who wants to participate in a fair, sustainable economy. Join us Sunday afternoon to learn more about becoming a worker-owner in this endeavor.
We got a great start on our new farm lot last week and are excited to finish the preparations and begin planting! A grant from the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program has given us some funds to pay fair wages for labor. Our cooperative structure means that participants are WORKER-OWNERS, collaborating in decision-making, labor distribution, and benefits. The goal is to provide the highest quality fresh organic produce to the community while building cooperative capacity. PLUS, did you know that MARSH will be expanding from offering only online groceries to a full-fledged storefront grocery store this summer? Meet up with us either at the farm lot or at MARSH on Sunday (see below) to learn more.
It's going to be a beautiful day (if a little windy!) to spread compost and chips on this new cooperative farm lot at 7200 Minnesota. All ages and experience levels are welcome and feel free to join in for as long or as little as you are able. This is also a chance to learn more about becoming a paid worker-owner this summer as MARSH grows this exciting cooperative food sharing "ecosystem."
A couple of last minute additions to this week's MARSH catalog: overwintered spinach, mung bean sprouts (alfalfa, broccoli, and radish sprouts and mix will also be ready) and, coming soon, some gorgeous red romaine and bibb lettuces. Order by midnight tonight, pick up Saturday.
this week's cooperative orders are due at midnight tonight!
Thanks to our extended fall season, local produce will still be available, along with groceries, baked goods, prepared foods, and more, at the MARSH outdoor market. Sliding scale means you pay what you can. Masks required.
Thanks to the lovely weather, we will once again be holding our MARSH OUTDOORS Grocery Market this Friday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. As usual, we will offer a wide selection of organic and locally-grown produce, MARSH Kitchen baked good and prepared foods, shrubs from Queervamp, dairy and eggs, and bulk and grocery items. We sponsor this SLIDING SCALE market biweekly to increase access to quality foods between orders for co-op members and to welcome everyone in the general community to a grassroots cooperative effort to challenge the inequalities, extraction, and exploitation of our food system. YOU decide how much to pay (generally ranging from $1 to $6): full prices help us provide food to those who need to pay less (or nothing!) and no one is turned away from eating well for health and the planet. Masks required.
MARSH OUTDOORS will proceed rain, wind, or shine tomorrow (we are prepared to move things inside and will limit occupancy, if necessary, to keep everyone safe.) As always, we’ll have amazing baked goods and prepared foods made in the MARSH kitchen, produce from both our organic supplier and our own garden, local vendor items (shrubs, body care products, etc.) and much more, all ON A SLIDING SCALE. It is extremely helpful for people to bring their own bags and masks are required. Everyone is welcome, though co-op members may preorder from the MARSH ON HAND list (by noon, please) for pickup at the market.
Where else can you get fresh organic produce, restaurant-quality baked goods and prepared foods, bulk and natural-foods groceries, dairy, eggs, and meats for yourself and family AND help others access the same? Join us for COVID-safe SLIDING SCALE shopping this Friday (Sept 25) from 4 7:30 p.m. Grocery bundles available first come/first served. Masks required.
Planning your weekend grocery shopping? Head over to MARSH on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. for our sliding scale outdoor market. Fresh baked goods and prepared foods from the MARSH kitchen, fresh produce from the MARSH garden and from other local/regional growers, bulk foods, general grocery items, dairy, eggs, and more. Better food for less money AND support for a community enterprise!
