Yesterday we were able to host a multi department training with Aurora Rural Fire Protection District. Crews were able to train on search and rescue as well as live fire extinguishing. We would like to give a big thank you to Southern Stone County Fire Protection District for providing the training trailer and Central Propane for donating the propane for live fire props. The lettering on the trailer says it all " Neighbors Helping Neighbors".

On this day... 19 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted. #wewillneverforget

From Kathy, Where / how do I begin to thank so many wonderful people once again Friends from not only Marionville but surrounding areas! Last night the Marionville Fire Department held a 3rd fundraiser for me at El Maya Mexican Restaurant here in town and also got The Ozarks famous food truck -Snow Ballz to join in! Just saying if you’ve never tried their delicious menu well.... you are really missing out!... From 5-9 pm El Maya prepared their fantastic entrees and members of Fire Department proudly waited tables ! Mindy Forester prepared a gift basket to be raffled off and then you could step outside and have a cool refreshing dessert from Snow Ballz!!! El Maya and Snow Ballz donated a percentage of their proceeds and the Fire Department donated all their tips. The door bell rang around 9:30 pm. There before my wondering eyes stood 3 guys with the biggest smiles ever! Seth Forester, Kris Bowling and Bob Duda They proudly presented me with the funds collected that night. I must say you were all to generous! Those of you that know me know that this most generous act of kindness from the hearts of so many had my tears flowing. Even now as I try to write this the tears are back . It just is so unbelievable what people in this community have done for me not once but actually 4 times since my original diagnosis in 2012. Also, it’s just not what you have all done for me but through our years of living here and working for the city for just about 13 yrs (November)it is what I have witnessed through these years of the beautiful loving community called Marionville So many truly loving and caring people! I have seen how you band together for anyone in times of need, celebrations, festivals, parades, yard clean ups, sickness, death etc. This my friends is what community is all about! The money will go towards lodging and gas for my treatments. I miss being at work and seeing all of your faces from time to time but please know how much I truly appreciate and love each and everyone of you and you are all important and worthy and will never be forgotten. Love, Kathy See more
