We are pleased to share some exciting news for Macon..... Weatherby Ridge 809 E. Briggs Drive Macon, MO Developer: Turnberry Developers, LLC (Don Rosemann)... Total Development Cost: Approximately $7,200,000 Development Type: Senior 55+ General Contractor: Fairway Construction Co., Inc. Architect: Rosemann & Associates Management Company: Fairway Management, Inc. Additional Development Information: Weatherby Ridge affordable senior apartments will reside on approximately 4.2 acres and consist of single story 4 to 8-plex residential buildings with 36 units. Units will be a mix of one-bedroom, one bath and two-bedroom, one bath and will be offered to seniors of age 55 and older, designed to allow residents to age in place while offering fully independent living and convenient access to local amenities in Macon. A range of unit rents and income limits will be offered to accommodate senior households at or below 30% of AMI up to market rate with unrestricted units. We are also asking that before arriving to pick-up food to prepare the vehicles. The food will loaded in the trunks of the vehiclesnot the back seat if at all possible. Please limit the number of persons in the car so you have enough room for the food. Please have your vehicles cleaned and ready. If you are new bring your photo ID. If you have received food previously and have a card bring your CARD. If you are picking up for someone bring their CARD or ID. Our mission is to keep everyone safe by practicing social distancing as well as providing for the needs of our families/participants. The Macon County Commission has modified the eligibility requirements to allow the CARES ACT funding more accessible to business owners. Macon County has part...nered with Mark Twain Regional Council of Governments to assist in the application process for the CARES Act Funding. Once the applications have been submitted and reviewed by MTRCOG, they will then be sent to the County for review to determine the amount of funds that will be approved for reimbursement. Reimbursement amounts will be determined based on applications received and fund availability. All applications MUST be received by November 10th, any application received after this deadline will only be reviewed if funds are available and will be on a first come first serve basis. The old Welcome sign has been saved and is being preserved. The new sign is part of the new signage designed and provided by Mainstreet Macon Downtown Association. On Thursday, December 17th we're doing a Spirit of Christmas meal. In talking with Ginny Bailey from the Macon Ministerial Alliance there is a need for items f...or the Emergency Food Pantry. So, we're going to offer a lower cost meal on Thursday and have our big van available if you'd like to contribute a few items to the pantry. There's no obligation to donate, just an opportunity. So, we're going to be serving up cups of our thick bacon cheese potato soup with our Pepperidge sandwiches (These are made on our Sister Schubert rolls with ham or turkey, cheese and topped with a concoction of goodness then baked- some call them 'funeral sandwiches' but we in the catering business don't think that's a very enticing name!), a bag of chips and 2 Snickerdoodle cookies. The cost will be $8 and we're going to donate $1 from each meal. We will post a list of items the pantry most needs in the comments so if you want to plan ahead you'll have time. If you'd like to donate money to the pantry please make your checks payable to the Macon County Ministries. Should you want to donate to the pantry and Thursday doesn't work for you then you can send donations to PO Box 58 or donate food items to the Emergency Food Pantry. The hours they are open are in the comments below. It's been quite a year of sharing and caring and lifting each other up. Those are the things we are taking from 2020. The wreaths that decorate the ornamental lights were provided via a grant from the Industrial Development Authority in 2019. MMU stores the decorations and hangs them each year. COVID-19 update; We have had an outbreak in one of our neighborhoods. 16 residents have tested postive over the last week in that neighborhood. Mutiple staff me...mbers have also tested postive. The neighborhood is being isolated from the rest of the building. We are testing all staff again tomorrow. We will retest residents and staff on Monday and Wednesday of next week. If you would like to schedule a FaceTime please call the activity department. We appreciate any thoughts and prayers you can send to us! Together we are better!

Construction of the new basketball court has been completed at Rubey Street Park! The court is entirely new and is larger than the previous one. The basketball ...court is open for use. The cost of the project was approximately $20,000.
