Macon R-I Elementary Art 19.10.2020

Fifth grade have been working on interactive silhouettes this month. This student volunteered to let me video hers to show you all how they work. The student makes a paper flashlight to illuminate specific areas of their composition as if it was a real flashlight shining. Look for another post of some students working on theirs this week (5D).

Round two has begun in the art room. Featured this week are highlights from 5B, 4B, 3B, 2B, 1B, and KB. We are archiving these photos in each students digital portfolio so if your student isn’t featured this time, they will be in the future. Lots of painting going on this rotation which will run through October. Grades K-5 are recommended to either bring a paint shirt during their art week to protect their clothing (which can simply be an old shirt that can be kept in their ...cubby in the art room during their art week), Or wear clothes that are ok to get messy. Next week is our C classes. A few more pics from the last art rotation that weren’t included with the last post. We are having lots of creative fun and all pictures taken of individual students are being archived in digital portfolios for each student this year. Students not featured yet, will be featured in upcoming rotations. This year all art projects are being sent home as we finish them with a digital copy being made as well. At the end of the school year, students will open up their digital portf...olio which houses a digital collection of their art in action photos as well as photos of their art. Students can use these photos in their digital art show and share with family. Hope you have been enjoying the colorful window into our art room this year. Now that the first five weeks are in the books with new routines established, next week we are ready to start a new set of art weeks. Looking forward to seeing all the students again over the next five weeks.

The B classes (KB, 1B, 2B, 3B, 4B, and 5B had a busy week during their first art week this year) each of the above classes had art for 5 days in a row (the equivalent of 5 weeks of normal art instruction) to help with social distancing efforts. The other 4 sections of each grade will each have their turn as they cycle through over the next 4 weeks. Here are some highlights of some of this weeks creative adventures together. Looking forward to the C’s next week. C kids please plan to wear clothes you can create art in this coming week, or bring a paint shirt with you to art. especially 1C and 3C as you will paint atleast 1-2 of your art days this rotation. See you next week!

Without further ado, Macon R-1 Elementary Art Department presents to you our first ever VIRTUAL art show! Thank you to all the families who were able to support and submit their child's art, the students who were able to take the time to be creative and to select their work, teachers and our secretaries/administration and others who helped share the news of the art show. Also a BIG thank you to Mrs. Kemp who helped convert the Google slides into a movie file with audio. Witho...ut any of you this would not have been possible. The Macon R-I community is simply the best! I tried to include as much time as possible for each slide...but I encourage you to push pause on any entry you'd like to enjoy longer. Thanks again. It's been a pleasure working with each of you and looking forward to creating more together soon. enjoy the show! -Ms. Mallett Here is the link to the video that can be shared with family and friends not on facebook: https://youtu.be/uC9yzhu86lk
