Well we made it through 2020 finally and what a shit show. We did have a great deer hunting year though. All the way through archery, rifle, and even muzzle loader season was even really productive. If you were hunting somewhere with an outfitter and they keep giving you excuses of why it sucked, the weather, the rut, maybe you’re with the wrong outfitter????? We knocked it out of the park all year long. Not saying it happens like that all the time, but hey, I’ll take it. So ...we won’t be getting to go to Harrisburg this year for the show as Covid has that screwed up as well. And so far Monroeville is up in the air. I will be coming out that way regardless as I have lots of mounts to deliver and I’d like to see everyone anyway. As far as getting on the books for this year, let’s get a start on it. I need to talk to everyone that was here last year first before I open it up to new folks. So let’s get our plans made for 2021. How about some muzzle loader pics? Had 16 hunters, killed 9 bucks and had 3 misses. Pretty damn good stats. Enjoy the pics and get in touch with me for the 2021 season as I’ll be hitting the phone trying to contact everyone as well. A little hunting humor for ya’ll.

Macon County Outfitters, LLC 26.12.2020

We always do a 7 day rifle hunt starting on opening day. Missouri had an 11 day season which allows me and the family to do a little hunting after my guys are all done. It’s always kinda peaceful to go sit in a blind and relax after all the work is done. Well tonight was one of those evenings that everyone hopes to have. Rain stopped and every deer was moving. This guy decided he was gonna chase a doe on the outskirts of a tree line and he got caught. At 380 yards he gave me one last chance before they went back into the woods. Fitting end to a great season for us. 158 inches with a 24 1/2 inch spread. A big thank you again to all my clients that make me realize I have the best job on earth. I get to do what I love everyday and all you guys make that possible. Bring on 2021.....

And today was the last day of Missouri’s rifle season. Always glad to see it come and sad to see it go, or maybe glad it’s over lol. We were short some hunters this year due to Covid but we still had a great turnout and will be better than ever next year as always. A big thank you to the guys that came and I bet they’re glad they did because we had one of the best seasons ever!!!!! Great quality bucks and lots of them! We had a few great days of rut activity before it slacked... off. I’ve been reading posts from others saying oh the bad weather and other excuses on how things didn’t go well for them. Well guess what? We killed 24 bucks the first weekend (2 days) with the rain and high winds. That’s why we have so many repeat clients, because we do it right!!!! We don’t blow smoke up peoples asses and make promises, we just do it right and get results! People don’t hunt with us once and move on, they repeat and most many times over. We had a blast in camp this year and lots of my guys killed their biggest bucks ever. Congratulations to Ken Karnash for getting the big buck award this year and to Nick McCarl for an extremely close second, if his buck wouldn’t have had a broken tine would’ve been first place. Also a great time for my phone to crap out on me. Use it to take all the photos and well I’ve lost many of the photos taken during the week so my apologies and it won’t happen again. I know how much everyone appreciates my good picture taking abilities. Many more bucks were taken that I don’t have pics of to show off. Overall though a great week. And I’m talking a 92.5% success week. Had 3 guys went home empty handed that were searching for the big one. Looking forward to next year as always!!!! Stay in touch everyone and have a happy holiday season! See more

Another archery week in the books. Finally something good has happened to us in 2020, and I’m damn sure not talking about the election. Amidst all the drama and chaos of this year we have concluded our best archery week ever. Not that we didn’t have a lot going against us like a full moon, windy conditions, not much rut activity, and temps in the 70s everyday. We had more quality deer hit the ground, more shot opportunities, and some of our best bow bucks ever taken! Also had... my little buddy Christian in for youth season weekend and he had to hunt a whole 10 minutes to get his biggest buck yet! So happy with how the week went and the fun we had at camp. A big thank you to all the hunters that came out that aren’t letting COVID run their lives and dictate what they can and can’t do. Looking forward to gun season opening this coming weekend and spending time with the next group in camp. But you Gun guys have your work cut out for you to out do the archery group. You will have cooler temps and the rut is starting to kick in now finally. Looking forward to a great week and set your standards high. Enjoy the pics from archery week 2020. See more

A little sneak peak of our archery week

Macon County Outfitters, LLC 11.11.2020

just a little teaser and I'll leave that right here....

Macon County Outfitters, LLC 10.11.2020

Only a couple days before our archery week starts! Hope everyone is excited as I am! Seen lots of activity while I was marking trails yesterday and today. Yes, we even had a dusting of snow yesterday, personally I’m not ready for that yet. Today took a pic of a couple scrapes under a tree and one was so fresh it was still wet! The next field I went to had 10 scrapes under one tree! I think we are gonna hit it just right again so be ready. Any last minute questions don’t hesitate to give me a call. Gun guys, you’ll be short to follow so get ready. I’ll see everyone soon, travel safe on your way out!

Guess what time it is?! It’s mid-August so that means cameras are going up! Who’s ready to see some deer pics?!

Macon County Outfitters, LLC 05.11.2020

Well here we are mid September already. I dont know about everyone else but I am so sick and tired of 2020!!! Top 3 reasons like they are hard to figure out...... #1 Covid-19...... What should we do? What should we not do? Who knows? But I can tell you this, Im not gonna spend my life hiding inside my house or wearing a mask when Im out and about. I know its found some of our older friends questioning travel this fall and i dont blame them, its just been difficult for me fig...uring out whos coming and not coming scheduling wise. But, WE ARE hunting this fall!!! #2 BLM and the "peaceful protesters"..... What a huge shit storm of idiots and criminals. Making martyrs out of criminals, burning, looting, attacking police? What the hell? All I know is its a good thing i dont live in one of those cities because I'd probably be on the news by now for sending some of my hollow point friends their way. And to my law enforcement friends, We will always have your back 100%. #3 Democrat politicians. What the hell are they on? Lets shut down the country for who knows how long? They march with thugs and protest? They are against the people who protect us? They've lost their freakin minds!!!! Guess I'm not wired that way but it never ceases to amaze me the stupid shit that they can come up with or say. PLEASE vote this fall, our conservative values and morality as a whole depends on us to keep these dumbshits out of office...... Ok ok I'll shut up. I can feel my blood pressure is up just talking about it as usual lol. How about some deer pics? We are a month and a half away from our archery week so this should get everyone pumped up. These pics are just from the first round of checking all the cameras. I will continue to be in touch with everyone as we approach the fall and that goes for all you guys, if you have questions, call or text me. We have no restrictions in Missouri and we are preparing for season as we speak. I'll be needing everyone's shirt sizes this year as we are getting some awesome new shirts for all the hunters. They are hoodies so keep that in mind. Looking forward to seeing everyone, be practicing those archery shots and gun guys be checking those rifles it'll be here soon!!! Stay safe and stay in touch. Enjoy the pics! See more

Forgot to post about our Texas trip few weeks ago. Mid June we traveled south to Sonora Texas and hooked up with a buddy of mine Kaleb Murr who owns and operates Texas Legacy Outfitters. He does free range Axis deer hunts. Some of you may know Kaleb or have talked to him before, he’s been my neighbor at the GAOS in Harrisburg the last couple years. We went down for a long weekend basically and Mindy smoked a great old Axis buck and I was being picky and passed on some after s...eeing a monster one night and not getting a good opportunity for a shot. This trip way surpassed my expectations and we had an awesome time! I liked it so much we are planning on going back next year a time or two. Planning a week mid to late May so if you want in, let me know and we’ll make a week of it. Very affordable hunt and a license is under 50 bucks. Pretty cool country and a little different deer hunting in the summer time. If you want more info give me a shout or look up Kaleb and talk to him directly. Good times!!! See more

Had an awesome group of guys this last weekend for a 60 degree, 25 mph wind day pheasant hunt. Had 43 shooters, a lot of whom were new to shooting pheasants and even some that were new to hunting period. Great time had by all and look for this group to explode with numbers for next year. If you’re interested in having the time of your life on a wingshooting event, like winning guns, and need a good weekend getaway, come join us next year on a few select dates and we can make that happen. Stay tuned in a couple weeks for another pic of our next group coming in topping 60 shooters. Special thanks to Matt Ludwig for making these hunts happen. Message him to get on board for next year and spread the word!

If you missed us at Harrisburg, you can catch us this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Allegheny Sport, Travel, & Outdoor Show in Monroeville. Let’s get some plans made for this fall!

Macon County Outfitters, LLC 06.09.2020

Well as rifle season comes to an end I’ll post our pics from last week. Kind of a rough week as the rut was pretty much over with but everyone stuck it out to the last minute sitting in the stand day after day for a whole week, before daylight till after dark. I’ll give everyone that went home empty handed a big thank you for not taking a small buck last minute just to say they shot something. Those young bucks will grow and be trophies next year or the year after. We shot so...me really nice bucks and some have some room for improvement next year but hey, that’s ok. A big thank you to Jeremy Jobson for helping me throughout the year getting everything ready and putting up with me, Kevin and Tyler for taking off work to shuttle people around, my old man Steve for helping out all year and enjoying his second job after retirement, Chad and Barb for coming all the way down from Idaho to lend a hand, my mom Lisa and her helpers Deanna Moore and Lois Wood for keeping the lodge in order and helping everyone gain weight with those awesome meals, also all my landowners that give us the opportunity to use and enjoy their beautiful farms. There’s a lot that goes into having a lodge and taking care of everyone so thank you to everybody that plays a part. Looking forward to next year hope to see everyone again in 2020. Enjoy the pics. Seeing the excitement of one of our hunters who killed their first Missouri white-tail is always a bonus to this job. But receiving a gift basket from a father/son duo who came out for kids rifle weekend is simply an added bonus. It was very thoughtful, and thank you, but the card accompanying it is why we do what we do. We not only provide great hunting opportunities for our clients, but we make great friends in the process. I want to once again congratulate 10 year old Christian on his first Missouri buck. And so glad he was able to share this experience with his dad, a repeat client of ours. We need to continue to encourage the next generation of hunters to step outside and to get into the stands. Good luck to all our rifle hunters as they arrive today and tomorrow and await for that sunrise Saturday morning!

Almost forgot to put my little buddy on here! Congrats Christian Cole on your first Missouri buck! Christian and his dad Ken came out for youth season and we had a big time! Did some trick or treating on Halloween and we followed it up by shooting a nice buck on the following Saturday. Congrats Christian, now we’ve got our work cut out next year to see if we can get a bigger one!

Macon County Outfitters, LLC 05.08.2020

Talk about a great archery week! After a couple years of not the best archery action, we finally knocked it out of the park. 75% shot opportunity as a group for the week! Just another reason we continue to be the best at what we do. Great hunting ground with great deer numbers combined with some great deer movement and activity, led for the best archery season we have ever had. Congrats to all my folks who’s arrow hit the mark and we’ll be ready to see if we can surpass our seasons success next year. Awesome job Neal on getting the big buck for the week and also to Billie on her first buck with the bow. Patience and persistence pays off! Thanks to everyone that was here to share in our successful week and hope to see everyone again next year.

Hey we're into October and I still havent posted any trail cam pics yet so apologies for that. To tell ya the truth, Weve been so busy with the new building and other projects this year that I didnt have time to mess with the cameras very much. I did try to have one or two on most of the farms and did get some decent pics. However, this year being one of the weirdest years on record for heavy rains, food everywhere, and mild weather, the deer really didnt move much until t...he last few days, You had to have a camera right on where the deer lived to even get any pics. So this year will be some surprise factor as to what comes in from the field when season hits. Its kinda exciting actually because usually I run myself into the ground running cameras and looking at pics to see where the big ones are at. You know as well as I that the big ones are there, its just gonna be are you patient enough to wait for one? Will you pass those young bucks to let them grow? Or will you shoot tomorrows Booners today haha!!! Anyway, great changes for this year with the new skinning shed almost complete. Constuction is finished and we just have to move the equipment in and get it set up. Cant wait to see everyone, we are just a few weeks away from archery week. Been getting lots of questions from folks about deer pics, but tonights post is courtesy of Mark Keene and Dave McCarl who are out bowling and drinking a few, I'm jealous by the way. Nothing huge here on these pics but just some nice bucks. See everyone soon. See more
