Once you get a trial verdict, a lot of times it is appealed and the client has to wait to get paid for up to 2 years, pay taxes and attorneys fees, all before g...etting that part of their justice. BUT most of them will tell you how great it is for the jury to find in their favor and tell them that they were not treated fairly and were discriminated against. Probably 75% of the cases are settled and have confidentiality clauses which means that the public never gets to hear about the sheer volume of discrimination that is going on in our society. Met with two clients this morning, yes on Memorial Day at 8:00 am with Gene Graham. It was a race case. I had tears in my eyes as one of the clients shared with me the story of his great grand mother who was murdered in the south by two white men who never faced a single day of justice. His grandad, who spent years blaming himself for not running and getting the rent payment quicker at 7 Yrs old, taught him to not judge people by the color of their skin. I'm afraid race and other types of discrimination will not end in my lifetime, no matter how many battles I fight...
