Today is National Vietnam War Veterans Day. On this date in 1973, the U.S. Military Assistance Command, Vietnam, disestablished. Vietnam War Veterans Day’s main objectives include: highlighting the contributions of all organizations to the war effort, honoring Americans’ contributions on the home front, emphasizing scientific and technological advancements, and recognizing our allies’ contributions. Of the five commemoration objectives, the most important is honoring the service of Vietnam Veterans and their families, including those who were prisoners of war or missing in action.
