Three members of the Louisiana High School Interact Club helped take down and pack away Christmas decorations at the Museum today. Thank you, ladies!
We are looking forward to being able to present programs "For Kids of All Ages" in June again this year at the Museum. Here are some photos from previous years.
This postcard of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Louisiana was given to the Museum recently by a man in Ohio who located it in family records. The postcard was sent from Louisiana on December 4, 1909 by Philip Zuzak to his son Herman T. Zuzak in Boonville, Missouri. Mr. Zuzak was a local merchant in Louisiana in the 1870's and 1880s. The Zuzak family is buried in Gates of Peace cemetery just outside of Louisiana. The person who so thoughtfully gave the postcard to the museum and provided the background information is the great-great-grandson of Phil Zuzak. Over the years this church building, which was located at 7th and Tennessee St., has been a city hall and jail, a private home, event center and art gallery.
The LAHM Board of Directors wishes each and every one of you a happy, healthy year ahead! We hope to be open to visitors during our regular hours and sponsor our usual special events in 2021!
The Louisiana Area Historical Museum Board members regretfully announce that the annual Mid-Town Church Walk and Soup Supper that were scheduled in December have been cancelled for this year. The decision was made after careful consideration for what is in the best health interests of those performing and those attending. Museum Board members and volunteers are looking forward to next year when we can comfortably enjoy the beautiful Christmas music again. The Museum will reopen for visitors on a regular schedule Memorial Day weekend 2021 and will provide special programming during June for kids of all ages. For more information, please call Board President Judy Schmidt at 754-5697.
Some University of Missouri students used part of their spring break to help out with projects at the Museum a few years ago. Their help was greatly appreciated! Museum Board members were on hand to help also.
