Formerly overgrown vacant lots, this project was made possible by Blue Hills Neighborhood Association, LISC Greater Kansas City, Health Forward Foundation, and Kissick Construction Company, Inc., and design by Vireo. Health happens in neighborhoods.

Thrive: Spotlight Care Beyond the Boulevard A 40ft mobile medical clinic The Big Green Bus, allows Care Beyond the Boulevard and their volunteers to provide medical care to upwards of 150 homeless and/or uninsured people a week. Thrive: Spotlight Care Beyond the Boulevard Care Beyond the Boulevard (CBB) is providing vital and quality health care to those in the Kansas City metro who are homeless, uninsured, or otherwise vulnerable. CBB was conceived and is lead by Jaynell K K Assmann, a nurse practitioner who saw a need to bridge the gap to providing quality medical care to those who needed it, regardless of financial or social situations. #ThriveSpotlight

Thrive: Spotlight Denise St. Omer The challenge for our BIPOC communities - the focus of philanthropy and others has been to try to program our way out of racial disparities, but those types of programs really are geared towards changing or impacting individual behaviors. And we can do that all we want, but as long as the institutional and structural barriers are there, then we’re never going to get to the outcomes that we want for our Black and Latinx communities.
