DID YOU KNOW that a native of Springfield, Missouri fought with the Harlem Hellfighters in the First World War and was a recipient of the Croix de guerre, a Fre...nch military decoration given to those who were cited for valorous service in World War I? In September 1918, Myrl Billings and three privates volunteered to attack a German machine gun nest. They were successful in capturing the machine gun nest after killing three German soldiers and taking four more captive. Myrl Billings died not long after the war ended from the effects of being gassed during the war. He was buried with military honors at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. #OzarkInternational See more

Fall tree color in Springfield gets no better than what I found today at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery Historic Site. Established in 1919, it is located at 2245 E P...ythian St (where Pythian intersects Chestnut Expressway at Barnes Ave). Want to take some beautiful fall photographs while enjoying a short hike? Bring your camera and stop by for the view, it won’t last long! Photo gallery link https://www.facebook.com/george.deatz/posts/10217654055733185? --GD The Garden Word See more

This cemetery was established in 1919 and more than 1,200 people are laid to rest here. Vandals have also discovered this property and the board is now working ...hard to raise funds for a fence. " It would just add to the beauty of the cemetery. There's been a lot of effort put in to upkeep and getting the cemetery looking better in the last several years," explains Charlotte Hardin who has seven family members buried at this Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. If you would like to make a contribution to the cemetery's fence fund, you can mail your donation to P.O. Box 9282 Springfield, Mo,65801
