GOT FLOOD INSURANCE? In the late Winter and very early Spring of 2019, our office began receiving phone calls asking if we knew of any company that would provide flood insurance. The people calling us had seen the flood forecast for the Spring and Summer, and while many of them acknowledged that they knew they lived in a flood hazard area, many also said, basically, that they didn't carry flood insurance because they hoped they would never be impacted by a flood. We don't... provide insurance, and we knew of no company that was then currently writing flood policies, because all of the insurance companies had by then also seen the flood forecast. If you live in a Special Flood Hazard Area (what we commonly refer to as a floodplain), we encourage you in the strongest possible terms to carry flood insurance. And even if you don't live in a floodplain, that does not mean you are immune to a flood. Will we see another flood this year? We're watching all (and I do mean ALL) of the indicators closely, but right now it's just too early to know for certain. Yet what we do know for certain is that carrying the right amount of insurance for your property and its contents is one of the best ways to help you, your family, or your business recover from a flood.

The Lincoln County Floodplain Administration is proud to announce the award of the Certified Floodplain Manager designation to Floodplain Administrator Adam Stanek. The CFM program recognizes the professional development and continuing education efforts that enhance the knowledge and job performance of floodplain managers at the Federal, State, Local, and private-sector levels. There are fewer than 200 people in Missouri who hold this certification. As the Floodplain Administrator for Lincoln County, Adam is responsible for administering and enforcing the county’s Floodplain Ordinance as well as acting as a trusted advisor, technical resource, and subject matter expert for our municipalities, insurance providers, developers, builders, real estate agents, and homeowners.
