A word from the director: If you are anything like me, I've been thinking that it "should" be getting easier since this stay at home stuff is the new normal. That does not seem to be happening for me, and maybe you are experiencing that as well. I've heard from a number of people that last week was REALLY rough. It was rough for me as well, and I've got lots of skills to use and access (virtually, mostly) to supportive people. My kids started having more difficulties, my ...wife and I had some interpersonal problems. There was more irritability in my home. It was harder for me to be skillful, and I've been practicing the skills we teach for years (You may be having a similar experience, or maybe your experience is way more intense.) If you are loving this stay at home thing, maybe you can teach the rest of us something. I'm also experiencing some screen fatigue. I do a lot of Zooming, and it is rather exhausting to be "on" all that time. Parenting, also, has seemed to become harder. I don't have the same support I used to. The kids don't have the interactions with their peers that they used to. Your stress may be going up, the stress your kids are experiencing may be going up, and nobody knows when the end is. What I'm about to announce may seem like one more thing to do, and I want you to consider something before you say, "I just can't do one more thing." When we run a Zoom group teaching skills and giving support here at LifeWork, we often notice people showing up looking tired. Sometimes REALLY tired. By the end of those groups, however, most of the time we notice more energy, people say they are glad they participated, and people are often leaving the meetings HOPEFUL. We have a 6 week Coping with COVID program for 10-14 year olds and a parent that will help with some of the stress you are under. It won't solve everything, but it will give some real hope and some real ways to cope better for your young person and yourself. Thursdays 6:45-7:45. Yeah, it may feel like one more thing, but it's a thing that you will thank yourself for doing. I have a feeling we are all going to feel a bit worse before we feel better, so make an investment in yourself and your child that will continue paying off long after our current situation is lifted. email [email protected], call 314-737-0020 or send us a message here . We are here to help. Wishing you a peaceful day. jeff brenneman

We have a brand new young adolescent virtual group starting tomorrow evening! It's a 6 week session focusing on how to cope in this pandemic. We all need skills and those 10-14 with strong emotions and parents with them probably need skills and support more than most! Thursdays 6:45-7:45 on Zoom. We've cut our prices in half for this group so don't miss out! This promises to be a great bargain for all the helpful info and support you will receive. Only $120 for 6 weeks. Parent attends with the young person, so you can learn skills and practice together! Send email to [email protected], call 314-737-0020, or send us a message here. Lifework's Coping through a Pandemic for Pre-Teens (ages 10 to 14) helps young people learn about their strong emotions and cope with life while under stay-at-home orders. Preteens will learn skills to help with decreasing their anxiety, reducing impulsive behaviors, and coping through this difficult time. We will be meeting online for six weeks starting April 16th at 6:45 p.m. This group is open to any pre-teen individuals and one parent/guardian who would like to learn additional skills to cope while acclimating to life during a pandemic. Please call (314) 737-0020 or send an e-mail to [email protected] for more information.

Good morning to you all. Wanted to announce something pretty exciting here at LifeWork. We are committed to providing the highest quality services we can and we are committed to being a part of training up great therapists as well. We have just finished a digital seminar introduction to DBT that is now live on Vimeo! It is almost 8 hours of content that covers all of the components of doing standard DBT. With so many people choosing to stay home and so many events being ...canceled, we decided to drop our price drastically. Right now, you can get access to the seminar (almost 8 hours of content) for only $20 for 30 days! Yes, that is a ridiculous value. Act quickly, because we are only offering this deal for the next 2 weeks! This is designed for clinicians that want to begin doing DBT or want to know more about it. Hope you enjoy and learn something! https://vimeo.com/ondemand/introductiontodbtseminar
