Here is an artist rendering of the new Public Safety Center (Lebanon Fire Station No. 3) approved by the Lebanon City Council Monday night. The new facility will be built at the intersection of Beck and Ivey lanes. Voters approved the new facility upon passing the capital improvements sales tax in 2018. The new center is expected to improve emergency service response times on the west side of Lebanon. #movingforwardforsuccess #LebanonMo #CityofLebanonMO

A few weeks back, Lebanon Fire Department Lt. Terry Saltzman and Firefighter Chris Vincent responded to an EMS call for chest pain. Relying on his experience, Lt. Saltzman knew the victim needed to be life flighted for medical attention rather than transported by ambulance. The victim's wife said: My husband would be dead right now if it wasn’t for the first responders making the call to send my husband on the helicopter. She added that her husband had to be "shocked" 12 times prior to arriving to the hospital but doctors immediately began surgery and saved his life. She said the doctor told her that her husband would not be alive today had it not been for the judgement call made by our first responders. Great work Lt. Saltzman and FF Vincent! #ShoutOutFridays #TeamLebanonMO #WeAreLebanonMO

Thanksgiving fire facts: - Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires, followed by Christmas Day, the day before Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas Eve. - In 2018, U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated 1,630 home cooking fires on Thanksgiving, the peak day for such fires.... - Unattended cooking was by far the leading contributing factor in cooking fires and fire deaths. - Cooking caused almost half of all reported home fires and home fire injuries, and it is the second leading cause of home fire deaths in 2014-2018. Here are some Thanksgiving Fire Safety Tips: - Stay in the kitchen when you are cooking on the stove top so you can keep an eye on the food. - Stay in the home when cooking your turkey, and check on it frequently. - Keep children away from the stove. The stove will be hot and kids should stay three feet away. - Make sure kids stay away from hot food and liquids. The steam or splash from vegetables, gravy or coffee could cause serious burns. - Keep knives out of the reach of children. - Be sure electric cords from an electric knife, coffee maker, plate warmer or mixer are not dangling off the counter within easy reach of a child. - Keep matches and utility lighters out of the reach of children up high in a locked cabinet. - Never leave children alone in room with a lit candle. - Keep the floor clear so you don’t trip over kids, toys, pocketbooks or bags. - Make sure your smoke alarms are working. Test them by pushing the test button. Check out this video demonstrating possible dangers from frying a turkey: https://bit.ly/3q29xbg

The storm siren going off in Lebanon is a malfunction. We are aware of the situation and we are working to rectify it. There is no need to be alarmed.
