It’s been a good day at Federation festival at Evangel University. I’m so proud of these piano students! It takes a lot of time, patience, discipline, and work to learn to play the piano.

This is a great snow day computer activity!! I just learned about this website that celebrates Beethoven's 250th birthday! It's free and has all kinds of information for students. It's produced by Randall and Nancy Faber whom you may recognize as the author of your piano books. https://beethoven.pianoadventures.com/

What to do on a day off school? Write a composition! This year's theme is "Life on a Farm." Look in your folder and there is composition paper and chances are we already started writing something. Doesn't have to be long - at least 8 measures, more for advanced students. Deadline to send it in to the Piano Explorer magazine is March 5th. If you don't want to send it in to the magazine, I'll extend the deadline.

These three students are the first ones to finish the Amazing Musical Race with passports that we started in August. Congratulations!

Inauguration Day 1981. I marched in President Reagan’s inaugural parade playing clarinet in the Willard High School Band. I was in the front row. It was a thrilling experience to be part of the festivities!

Spent the afternoon at the Springfield Symphony with these 11 students. It was inspiring to watch the guest pianist, Kyle Orth, play Grieg’s Concerto in A Minor.

I can get free Springfield Symphony tickets for each piano student and a parent for this Saturday at 2:00 pm. There will be a guest pianist performing with the symphony! Let me know by Thursday if you’d like to go.
