Lawson Middle School Written Spelling Bee Winners Sixth grade teachers hosted a written spelling bee for the 2020-2021 school year in their classrooms. Participants used white boards to spell their words and compete against each other. Sixth grade winners: 1st place John Schmitz, 2nd place Lindsay Jones, 3rd place Madelyn Hazlett. Fifth grade will host their written spelling bee later in the year. Congratulations to our excellent spellers!

Lawson Middle School Verbal Spelling Bee Winners PTO hosted a verbal spelling bee for the 2019-2020 school year. Students in grades 5 and 6 were able to participate in a preliminary round in the classrooms; students then moved on to the finals which was held in the Sellers Performing Arts Center. Fifth grade winners: 1st place Destiny Dreesen, 2nd place Weston Briegel, 3rd place Ben Olinger. Sixth grade winners: 1st place Jaxson Hedges, 2nd place Cooper Bellemore , 3rd place Madelyn Hazlett. Congratulations to our excellent spellers!
Lawson Middle School held the finale Trading Card activity on Friday, April 16. Trading Card seniors met with the 5th grade class and facilitated 4 breakout sessions focusing on avoiding negative peer pressure, reasons to be drug free and why positive character traits are important. The Trading Card program is sponsored by Mrs. Edwards. The Trading Card Seniors are: Mackenzie Simmons, Olivia Evans, Lucas Pollard, Corinne Benedict, Maci Stephan, Gabby Hochwender, Dawson Morris, Sadie Hendrickson, Elyssa Hague, Ellie Smith, Grant Thomas, Ashlyn Staton, Carter Campbell and Sloan Muiller.

Some additional information for Lawson Activities this Saturday (10/31) including fan expectations. Cross Country competes in Districts at Platte Ridge Park beginning with Girls running at 10:20 am followed by the Boys. There will be no fan restrictions but face coverings are recommended. $5 Admission. Volleyball will face Carrollton in the Sectional game played at West Platte High School beginning at 3:30pm. Winner of that game will play in the Quarterfinal directly after the Sectional game. There will be no fan restrictions but face coverings are REQUIRED inside the building. $7 Admission.

Please meet the 2020 Trading Card Seniors! The Senior Trading Card program is funded through a grant from our Cardinals in Action (CIA) and provides an opportunity for 5th grade students to meet with seniors that have been selected as drug free role models. Once each month the Trading Card Seniors plan a mini-assembly emphasizing the importance of being a person of strong character, providing skills for resisting peer pressure and discussing reasons for being alcohol, tobacco and drug free.
