Laurie Police Department 02.04.2021

The Laurie Police Department wishes to express its deepest gratitude and appreciation from the local businesses and the good citizens of Laurie for the donations of gloves and surgical mask during this virus epidemic. The department funds are extremely limited and the donations are a great help for the officers. Hand sanitizer is difficult to get at this time but we are doing what ever we can to help prevent the spread of the virus or other health issues. Please be patient as we are trying to avoid any face to face contact at this time to prevent exposure to the officers or the public. If anyone needs to make a non emergency report of an incident, its advisable to just telephone the police department and complete the report over the phone.

As of 3/21/2020, the City of Laurie is temporarily implementing measures to insure the health and safety of its employees and the general public. The city hall has closed its doors until further notice. Citizens are requested to make any bill payments by placing payments in the drop box located in the city hall parking lot as no entry into the building will be available. If anyone needs to speak to a city employee, call 573-374-4871 which will be redirected to the Morgan County dispatch center. A city employee will then be advised to contact you. If the police department is needed, call 573-378-5481 or 911 if emergency. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Our employees will be using extra precaution to avoid shutting down Laurie City Hall or locking it's doors. To help us accomplish this we ask that you use the drop box in the parking lot to pay bills and if you need to talk to someone here, please use the phone as much as possible. If you want to talk to a City Hall employee, the number to call is: 573-374-4871. If you need someone at the police department, please call: 573-374-4871 Monday through Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM, ...573-374-5481 after hours, or if an emergency, as always, call 911. As stated, these precautions will hopefully keep us from having to shut our doors to the public. Our police officers will be using extra care as well while handling any calls we might have, such as wearing gloves on all contacts, heavy sanitizer use and masks as needed. This is all the help prevent spreading any contagions and to let our citizens know that we care about them and want to keep them as protected as we can. We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us. See more

CoVid-19 As with all things, panic is not an efficient response and causes more problems than not, and generally it is not warranted. We have a small community here in Laurie and our citizens are amazing people. I know that we will do everything we can here in our community to help one another while at the same time still keep ourselves safe. The Laurie Police Department will be doing our best to keep our citizens informed with all that is going on with the Covid 19,and to keep everyone up to date with information as we get it. We will be passing on local information/resources for Laurie and Morgan County.

The Laurie Police Department is warning citizens of person(s) stealing catalytic converters from vehicles. The city recently had a converter stolen from a maintenance vehicle which was captured on video. The investigation is ongoing. Other nearby businesses have reported converter thefts from their vehicles. If you see anything or anyone that looks out of place or suspicious persons, don't hesitate to notify the police department. Remember to lock your vehicles and remove any valuables.

This is a state wide stay at home order that goes into effect Monday morning at 12:01 AM. Do your part to abide by this order. While out on patrol we see adults/kids that are obviously not paying attention to the order or the situation our country is in. If we don’t do our part there will be no activities at all that we associate with spring, summer, fall, and winter. Everyone needs to do the responsible thing. Let’s all help in doing our part to get this great country of ours back on track.
