October is Domestic Violence awareness month. You have probably seen the billboards around town for Safehome. We at Lamar felt the least we could do was help spread the message here in the Kansas City Metro about this incredible organization that sets out to help victims in need. New research from OAAA, in conjunction with The Harris Poll, finds nearly half of adult Americans (45%) report noticing OOH advertising more than they did before the pandemic. In urban areas of one million or more, the increased notice rate of OOH ads jumps to 69 percent. The Harris Poll study examined the impact of COVID-19 on consumer behavior, including the effect on their fourth quarter holiday travel and shopping plans. There was even more encouraging news for the OOH industry, as 67 percent of US adults still plan to travel for the holidays, and 56 percent plan to travel by personal vehicle. In addition, 42 percent of consumers anticipate traveling as much or more than last year, and over 60 percent plan to spend the same or more on holiday gifts and meals compared to 2019.

Outdoor advertising extends reach and frequency in integrated campaigns and is the most efficient driver of mobile, social and digital engagement. The Advertising Research Foundation has found that using multiple platforms in a campaign leads to a higher ROI.

It is National Diaper Need Awareness Week. We have partnered with National Diaper Bank Network to help bring awareness to the community regarding the hardships so many families with little ones are facing when trying to provide for their children. The National Diaper Bank Network is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families access clean diapers and other the basic necessities they need to thrive. They have more than 225 member diaper bank programs distributing nearly 67 million diapers annually to families struggling to provide enough diapers to keep their babies clean, dry and healthy. The need is even greater this year due to the pandemic.

The world lost a great hero on Friday. Chadwick Boseman passed away from colon cancer, but his legacy lives on. He played many powerful and inspirational roles throughout his career; to include Black Panther, Thurgood Marshall, and Jackie Robinson to name a few. His skills and his heart were unmatched; touching the hearts of millions. To pay tribute to this impeccable artist, we at Lamar will be broadcasting this art in his memory on our digital boards across the country.
