John spends hours pouring over National Geographic magazines. He finds many articles that interest him. He has a favorite lounge chair in our living room where he likes to sit and read. It's hard to believe that John's 96th birthday is just a week away.

Pam shows up in yet another funny getup. Aaah, our new groundskeeper? Yeah, yeah...that must be it!! She's seriously playing the part, toosweeping our porches and sidewalks, washing windows...gotta be our new groundskeeper!! Cute costume, Pam. Jerry happens onto her on his morning walk and they stop for a chat. Beautiful, sunny day! Yay!!

5 Facts about our COVID-19 Vaccination Plans: - A COVID-19 vaccine will soon be available to all residents and staff. We are moving forward with our plans and will provide additional details soon. - Residents and staff will not have to pay to receive the vaccine. - We are encouraging as many residents and staff as possible to get this vaccine. - The vaccine will require two doses, and those getting it will need to get both doses to ensure the best results. The second dose wi...ll be given approx. 3-4 weeks after the first dose. - We will continue to take all necessary precautions after the vaccine is administered and will work with public health officials to determine how/when to adjust our policies for visitations and social activities. We recognize this has been an incredibly challenging year for senior living staff, residents and their loved ones. With the arrival of the vaccine, we are encouraged that things will significantly improve heading into 2021. If you have questions, please contact our administrator.

For Dona, sharing her memories of farm life with Alex and Sydney is almost as good as being there again. The session begins with some of Dona's most cherished gospel songs...then conversation turns to talk of life on the farm, the best life one can have!

Music therapy is about so much more than good music. Listen as Dona talks to Alex and Sydney about her life on the farm. "Being in the fresh air...that's what I like. I like being outdoors. Always something to do out on the farm. We'd put hay up and pull it up in the barn and I'd drive the horses...." she tells her listeners, smiling. Dona is so happy reminiscing, she is aglowall because of the opportunity to share her memories with these young women who listen intently to what she has to say. They hear with their hearts. Their connection with our residents through music and conversation is priceless. Our weekly hour and a half of individualized music therapy sessions has proven to be vital. Our sincere thanks to all who have made our relationship with the Center for Music Therapy and Wellness a reality. You are ESSENTIAL!!

Happy 65th Anniversary to this wonderful couple. Stan and Barbara are loved by everyone. They're ready to be friends to whoever they meet. They're full of fun and always bring smiles to those around them. We're so happy to have them both in our Lakewood family. Stan and Barbara wish to thank their three sons Mike, Phil, and Jeff along with their wives for the cake and beautiful array of plants. "I LOVE the plants," Barbara says. With her green thumb and Stan's gardening skills, this gift is sure to thrive! And we at Lakewood want to say thanks for inviting us all to join in the celebration on this momentous occasion! What a pretty, delicious cake! Congratulations, friends!
