Fleas and Ticks This is flea & ticks season. They are actually around all year but in the spring and summer as the temperatures warm the humidity stop they increase their reproduction rapidly. We and our pets are also outside more so we contact them more commonly. I have talked a lot about fleas and ticks in these articles and preventatives we still are recommending Bravecto as the best and safest preventative. There are many people that still go to the grocery store feed sto...re and buy the flea and tick products available there. And while they are cheap most of them are ineffective and actually can be toxic. I had a recent case where the owner put a flea and tick product on their cath that they bought at the grocery store it did not work and did not kill the fleas and ticks, so she bought a second product and placed that on the cats as well. Unfortunately the second product and very small print in the upper right hand corner of the packaging said it was not to be used for cat it was actually a dog product. This product contained 45% permethrin and killed 2 of the 3 cats. So while flea and tick control is very important you need to be very careful in the products that you use and by the cheapest is not the best. Sent from Dr. Mark Lucas
