Come by the fire station and pick up some of these famous cinnamon rolls! Firefighters are also giving tours of the new station.

The 2017 run totals have been released. In 2017, La Plata Firefighters and First Responders responded to 215 incidents, this is a large increase of 49% compared to years 2015 and 2016. (2015 had a total of 145 calls) Shown in the picture is a breakdown of the calls by incident type and number of calls for each type. Of specific note, the number of fires increased 138% compared to 2016. Also the number of medical assist, or EMS calls, increased 44% compared to 2016. We would like to thank our citizens for the support they give us every year and will be proud to serve our citizens of La Plata and the surrounding area in 2018.

(LA PLATA, Mo) -- With deepest sympathy the La Plata Fire Department reports that member Kathy East has passed away today after being critically injured Sunday morning in a non-fire department related traffic accident. Also injured in the accident was her husband Stan East, who is the chaplain of the La Plata Fire Department. Kathy has been a member of the La Plata Fire Department for over 40 years. Kathy served wholeheartedly as the co-chaplain and the secretary for the dep...artment, logging countless hours of training and bookkeeping. Kathy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Kathy is survived by 4 members of the fire department; husband and chaplain Stan East, sons deputy chief Stan (Rabbi) East, and captain Kevin East, and grandson captain Cameron East. Services for Mrs. East will be announced at a later date. The fire department wishes that everyone keep the family and the fire family in their thoughts and prayers in this difficult time.

LaPlata Volunteer Fire Department moved to their new home a few weeks ago. They decided it was time for a photo. This will also be on their new calendar.

La Plata Fire Department has a stand selling homemade pizzas at the Soybean Festival all weekend. Firefighters will be on hand with their trucks at 1pm on Saturday allowing the public to view the equipment we carry to emergency scenes, in the northeast corner of the park. Come visit with us!
