Action Alert from Rabbi Doug: Say No to Rush Limbaugh Day Rabbi Susan Talve, my colleague in St. Louis, has asked us to take action on a bill that is scheduled for a hearing before the Missouri Senate this Tuesday, March 9, at 10:30 a.m. The bill is seeking to designate January 12 as Rush Limbaugh Day in Missouri. Rush Limbaugh was a source of divisiveness and hate, and it would be an embarrassment to our state to have a day named for him.... This is also personal, in that it is also the yahrzeit for Rabbi Talve’s daughter. She should not have to confront a Rush Limbaugh Day, someone who stands for everything Rabbi Talve has worked against, on the day of her daughter’s yahrzeit, a day no parent should ever have to confront. The action we can take is to call state senators representing the KC metro area. Tell them you are opposed to Senate Bill 532. If you call KC-area representatives, tell them you are opposed to House Bill 1200. KC-area senators Sen. Lauren Arthur 573-751-5282 Sen. Greg Razer 573-751-6607 Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer 573-751-2183 KC-area representatives Rep. Ashley Aune 573-751-3618 Rep. Ashley Bland Manlove 573-751-2124 Rep. Chris Brown 573-751- 9458 Rep. Richard Brown 573-751-7639 Rep. Ingrid Burnett 573-751-3310 Rep. Michael Davis 573-751-2175 Rep. Michael Johnson 573-751-0538 Rep. Patty Lewis 573-751-2437 Rep. Maggie Nurrenbern 573-751-4787 Rep. Sean Pouche 573-751-6593 Rep. Wes Rogers 573-751-2199 Rep. Mark Sharp 573-751-9469 Rep. Emily Weber 573-751-4485 Rep. Yolanda Young 573-751-3129

Rabbi Doug Alpert Earns Spot in Two Year Fellowship Program Based in New York City, the Clergy Leadership Incubator (CLI) bills itself as a boot camp for visionary leadership. And Kansas City can count one of its own among the grunts, now that Rabbi Doug Alpert of Congregation Kol Ami is a participant in the two-year program.... I was the one accepted into the program, Rabbi Alpert said, but it is really a ‘we process’ and not a ‘me process.’ His point was that he intends to share his learning not only with his congregation, but also with the broader Jewish community in Kansas City. Read the article in the Kansas City Jewish Chronicle.

Today's tashlikh service at Frank A. Thies Park in KCMO (masked and social distanced). The symbolic antonement ritual reflects the words from the prophet Micah (7:19), He will take us back in love; He will cover up our iniquities. You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
