Brothers, a good take on Christopher Columbus for us to ponder. This Documentary is long enough to show with family and is a great history lesson!

Brothers, Grateful for our successful workday, the good weather, and those 12 that were able to make the call [disciples, who at the end of the day were the dirty dozen!] Much was done to beautify our spot on the river, with some more yet to complete. SO, if you are available for another day for service please call for direction on what needs to be done yet, before cold weather gets here. Many thanks to those that were able to make it Saturday!!

Brothers, a great "reflection" out of our "One Bread One body" booklets for today! Saturday, September 5, 2020, 1 Corinthians 4:6-15 Psalm 145:17-21... Luke 6:1-5 View Readings WHY SOME ARE COURAGEOUS AND OTHERS NOT We have become the world’s refuse, the scum of all; that is the present state of affairs. 1 Corinthians 4:13 When Jesus was presented in the Temple, Simeon prophesied that Jesus would be a sign of contradiction (Lk 2:34, our transl). This was shockingly exhibited by the fact that Jesus was crucified. Jesus’ followers are also signs of contradiction. We will be persecuted (see Mt 5:11), and some will be martyred. In this way, the world tries to manipulate us into compromising the truth of the Gospel. Therefore, we must be willing to suffer any degree of rejection, insult, or pain (see 1 Cor 4:10ff) so that we will never lose our freedom to proclaim the Gospel courageously without compromise. To endure pain and persecution for love of Jesus is possible only by God’s grace. This grace of courage is usually preceded by many other graces given especially in our formative years: total commitment to Jesus, a thorough, prayerful formation in God’s Word, a vibrant, established sacramental life, Christian brotherhood and sisterhood lived in Christian community, with penance and sacrifices, submission to the authority of the Church, and a rightly formed conscience. Many Christians seem to be more fearful in more recent times. They are easily manipulated into compromise by the mere thought of possibly being a little unpopular. Some Christians even doubt objective truth and morality. We must repent, accept the foundational graces of courage, and then speak courageously the unadulterated truth in love (see Eph 4:15). Prayer: Father, may I love people enough to risk being rejected by them when I tell them the truth. Promise: The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. Ps 145:18 Praise: Love for the unborn overcame Mary’s fear of persecution for being a pro-life witness.

100 hands work day to help beautify our witness on the riverfront. Saturday Sept. 12th. 8:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The hope is we get 7 or more members to be on each team, and can work a full day. Brothers, there are always maintenance needs inside and out of our building. If you a...re not available on Sept. 12., just remember work can be down anytime of the year. [KofC] They were one of the first American fraternal societies not to prohibit black membership in their constitution. During World War I, with the slogan Everybody Welcome, Everything Free atop their doors, they managed the only racially integrated facilities available to American troops, three decades before the U.S. military integrated its ranks. And they were described by the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s as the organization most interested in the Klan’s destruction. I write of the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic fraternal society named after a long-dead European whom many woke activists now call, erroneously and often maliciously, a racist murderer.

Are you concerned with the revolutionary times in which we are living? A well-balanced perspective is critically important as it governs our interpretation of what is happening in our lives. For weeks now we have witnessed, and continue to witness, the unwarranted anger and frustration levied against Christopher Columbus as well as other long time acclaimed historical figures. This unwarranted anger has escalated to subsequent vandalization and toppling of statues nationwide.... Making matters even worse, many of us are left frustrated having to listen to an onslaught of revisionist history being taught with a rather limited rebuttal. The Catholic Church is an irreplaceable force for good in the world and cannot remain conspicuously absent from public discourse on this matter. We simply cannot afford sit idly by while competing worldviews continue to shape narratives that lead to shifts in public opinion and ultimately public policy diametrically opposed to our beliefs and valuesunless we are prepared to pay the price. Where do we draw the line? Let’s begin with perspective. It has been said that who controls the context, controls the argument. Setting a productive and ‘mature’ context to move forward, His Eminence, Raymond Cardinal Burke sat down for an exclusive interview with Catholic Action for Faith and Family to delve into the current crises facing America, the importance of restoring and observing the Fourth Commandment and the value of our American Heritage. And of course, don’t miss Cardinal Burke as he sets the record straight on Christopher Columbus and how he was acting in service to the mission of Christ! I invite you to take a few minutes to listen to his counsel. You will be left with a better understanding of how we must get back on track to honoring and be thankful to those who have gone before us. Watch and listen to Cardinal Burke’s opening position statement regarding Christopher Columbus on Facebook here. If you do not have FaceBook, watch and listen on YouTube here.
