Nerve damage. Vision and hearing impairment. Foot damage. Skin conditions. Cardiovascular and kidney disease. What do they share in common? They’re all potential complications for patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, making frequent symptom assessment especially important. That’s why at Kindred at Home, we develop individual self-management plans for people who have been newly diagnosed or when complications develop so they can build confidence in managing their condition.

Happy Doctor's Day! Simply put, physicians are at the core of what we do. We rely on their expert directives to create the best care for our home health patients and the appreciation runs deep. Did you know Doctor's Day originated in Georgia? Eudora Brown Almond, the wife of a doctor in Winder, Georgia, petitioned for the holiday until its first observation on March 30, 1933. The date also marks the anniversary of the first use of ether anesthesia by Dr. Crawford W. Long. Learn more about the history of Doctor's Day and thank a doctor in your life to mark the occasion! https://nationaltoday.com/doctors-day/

In honor of Black History month, we’re shining the spotlight on Black Americans whose contributions have made it possible for us to live our mission of providing extraordinary service and compassionate care. This week, we celebrate Charles Drew, known as the pioneer of blood transfusions. In the late 1940s, Charles set up and administered an early program for blood storage and preservation. He later went on to create ‘bloodmobiles,’ or trucks with refrigeration units that stored blood and facilitated easy transport. Charles also created a central location for blood collection, which later became known as the American Red Cross Blood Bank.
