Did you know? Nearly 37 million Americans live with chronic lung disease like asthma and COPD, which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis.* If you know someone struggling with respiratory illness, ask them to talk to a nurse at 866.CARE.KAH about managing their condition at home. *CDC https://www.lung.org/lung-health-di//protecting-your-lungs
If someone you know is having trouble regulating their glucose levels or blood pressure, what they eat could be part of the problem. Encourage a loved one with diabetes to indulge in a diet rich in fruits, veggies, whole grains, legumes, and low-fat dairy. If trouble persists, tell them to ask their doctor for a referral to Kindred at Home. We're here to help! https://www.mayoclinic.org//in-/diabetes-diet/art-20044295

Last month, at the @SoutheasternColoradoAHEC Virtual Nightingale Nurse Recognition Event, our very own Olga Ramirez, from our Pueblo branch, was presented a Luminary Award for her extraordinary work. On her own time, Olga has created a pantry of healthcare, ostomy, wound care, and DME in her home for those in need. She gives unused supplies donated by the community to people without the resources to purchase them. Olga, we are so proud of all you do for the health and wellbeing of your community. And we’re honored that you’re part of the Kindred at Home family. Congratulations!
This National Primary Care Week, take time to express gratitude to the physicians, PAs, nurses, and other primary care professionals who have always taken care of us, and are doing heroes work during this healthcare crisis.
Falls can lead to injuries, decreased mobility, and loss of independence. By taking care of your eyes, you can minimize the risk of falling. Get your vision checked once a year. Make sure your eyeglass prescription is current. Keep your home well lit. And, if you need help adjusting to a loss of vision, talk to a Kindred at Home nurse about what we can do to help. 1.866.CARE.KAH.
