The City received this e-mail today from the Lions Club regarding the 2020 Kimberling City Christmas Parade. Unfortunately, the parade has been canceled for this year, but everyone make sure to mark their calendars for 2021!! Dear Parade Participant/ Supporter, It’s with a heavy heart, that we let you know that we will not be holding the Lions Club annual Kimberling City Christmas Parade this year. We’ve had many individuals, bands and groups unable to commit to participati...ng due to COVID concerns. With the number of cases rising, and concerns of anticipated post-Thanksgiving increase, we felt that this was the most responsible decision. We’re disappointed as we too wanted to do whatever we could to keep any sense of tradition and normalcy this year. We investigated the possibility of doing a reverse parade where floats could park, and people could drive through or a virtual parade but it just wasn’t feasible with our small committee and short timeline. We’re always looking for folks who want to help us grow our Hometown Holiday traditions so let me know if you would like to be more involved in the future. The Christmas Spirit of Giving is NOT cancelled! As always, we appreciate your community support and while we appreciate your donations to the Lions Club, this year we encourage you to please support the local food and toy drives as those needs are even greater this year; and we had planned to have donations bins at the parade. On behalf of the Lions Club, and the City of Kimberling City, we thank you for your continued support and hope that you will participate next year. Keep those float props handy we will keep the same theme next year. Christmas Carols! We are hopeful next year will allow our post-parade Cookies and Cocoa with Santa and awards. Mark your calendar for Saturday, December 4, 2021. Thanks and sending you and yours blessing of good health this season and best wishes for a brighter 2021. The City of Kimberling City is sorry to announce that the 7th Annual Kimberling City Tree Lighting has been cancelled this year. The event will be back next year so be sure to mark your calendars! The City takes the safety and wellbeing of our citizens very seriously. Although we would like to see the event held to help keep up the Holiday Spirit, it is not in the cards for 2020. We want to thank everyone who helped us by putting up the event flyers or posted the event on Facebook. Thank you to those who were going to be part of the event and help put the event together. We look forward to working with everyone next year.
