Welcome Reverend Benjamin C. Bainbridge! Keystone is excited to announce Rev. Ben Bainbridge has been appointed to serve Keystone UMC, his first Sunday will be July 4, 2021. Ben began his undergraduate work at the former Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University), where he was an art major. After a couple years in the art department, he shifted majors and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. When asked why the drastic shi...ft from the arts to accounting, he explains it this way. Accounting is not as much about math as it is about solving puzzles. I like to solve puzzles. After graduation he joined the staff of Saint Paul’s UMC in Joplin, Missouri as a church business administrator and would eventually follow the Holy Spirit’s call into pastoral ministry in 2008. While working on his pastoral credentials, Ben led a group in launching a downtown ministry called The Salvage Yard which provided a late-night alternative in Joplin in 2006. The Salvage Yard operated as a coffeehouse, night club, and church reaching a variety of marginalized people in the community and provided a platform for local musicians. He has served in various pastoral roles at Saint Paul’s, including worship pastor, campus pastor, and most recently Executive Pastor. Beyond undergraduate work, Ben’s seminary education took place at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Saint Paul’s School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri, completing the United Methodist Course of Study. He was commissioned as an Associate Member to the Missouri Annual Conference in the summer of 2019. Ben and Tammy were married in 2014 and have 5 grown children between them. Although he grew up in Springfield, he has had an affection for Kansas City since he visited the Kansas City Art Institute in high school. It seems poetic that he would marry Tammy, who is a KC native. Although Ben is an avid New Orleans Saints fan, he has adopted the Kansas City Chiefs as his second team. Of course, Tammy may have something to do with that decision. Creating brings him joy. Ben would reluctantly tell you he creates art, systems, relationships, experiences, laughs, and occasionally has been known to play guitar with whatever band would accept him. He believes that creating life brings more joy than just consuming life. Creating is more difficult but is worth it. Most importantly, Ben believes God loves all people, because they are made in the divine image. His mission is to lead people to an active faith in Jesus by helping everyone better see who they are, who God is, and why it matters.

Hi, folks! You will want to have a few things gathered for two of our online services in the days ahead. For our Maundy Thursday service, which will stream at 7:00 this evening, you will want to have a bowl of water and a couple of towels or washcloths. For our Easter morning service at 9:00 a.m., you will want to have a little something to eat and drink, and preferably to share with those who are around you, as we share in a love feast. I pray that the days ahead will hold a deep message for you of life, death, sacrifice, redemption, and resurrection. Pastor Steve
