Greetings, patients and friends. This current Covid 19 (Corona virus) crisis requires us all to be patient and cooperative with various local and federal health agencies and associations. The American Dental Association, in cooperation with DHSS, has issued recommended guidelines in order to reduce human contacts and thus reduce the risk of transmitting the covid 19 virus. I will summarize the recommended guidelines for dentists nationwide. For an undetermined period of... time, we are postponing non urgent care for our patients. Non urgent care includes periodic prophylaxis ( teeth cleaning), most small fillings, most crown and bridge work, dentures and partials, new exams, etc. Urgent care includes 1. The removal of or endodontic (root canal) treatment of teeth that are causing daily pain. 2. Treatment of abscesses and infection swelling. 3. Placement of finished crowns when the temporary restoration nears the end of its service time. 4. Continued treatment of dry sockets after extractions. 5. Evaluation of infections that may require continued antibiotic therapy. 6. Recementation of a crown or bridge that has come loose. 7. Placing large restorations on teeth whose large cavities might cause an abscess if not treated. It is important that, if you think you require urgent care, DO NOT REPORT TO AN EMERGENCY ROOM. Contact our office first to see if we can solve the problem for you. The office is open by appointment only. There are currently no walk in hours. You will be asked questions about your current health. Your temperature will be taken before you are treated. Patients with elevated temperatures or virus symptoms will not be admitted into the office. We will, however, communicate with you by phone and attempt to help solve problems. We will answer messages for 573-775-2636. Patients being seen are the only ones admitted into the office. All other friends and family must remain home or in your car. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time. Everyone’s goal is to reduce the number of exposures until the virus spread has measurably reduced.
