Creativity dulled? Spiritually weary? Isolated? Let’s get creative again! If you are like me, it has been a tough year. I am noticing a general dullness has settled over me. Maybe you are feeling the same way. Whether you are feeling painfully isolated or just a little worn out from the constant stress of politics and pandemic, I understand. ... When I feel dull like this, I notice I’m not very inspired either creatively or spiritually. This week I began studying my way through a book that has been around for quite a while, but it seemed like a perfect fit for what I was feeling. The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity is a course in discovering and recovering your creative self. I will say the author is a Christian, but she isn’t pushy about her faith. She approaches the course with an understanding that each of us is on a journey. She wants to help you on your journey right where you are helping you find your next step forward. After being inspired and challenged by the lessons in this book over the past week, I have decided I’d like to teach a small group or maybe two. Would you join me on an adventure to discover and recover your creative self? Option one: In person at Summit View Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, MO. The format would include a 3040-minute lesson with the book as our guide, but not the only resource. The lesson would be followed by a 3040-minute creative project. Don’t be afraid - I’m designing creative projects that will be easy but challenging for any level. The main job of the project will be to inspire you to tell your story through creative expression. Option two: On-line lesson with the book as our guide and would include homework assignments similar to the in-class projects, but you would do them on your own. Regardless of the option, each week would include an opportunity to share how creativity and spirituality are being inspired in your daily life. I think this could be a ton of fun. There are no rules as to who can join us. Christian, non-Christian, USA or not, part of my congregation, or a total stranger. I’m just looking for some folks who want to be on a journey of health and awakening. If you are interested respond below with your favorite option and when you could meet weekly for 12 weeks. The prayers are simple, distinct, and ... will absolutely challenge your faith. Join us Wednesday nights at 7pm as we talk about these prayers and begin a journey of praying them together. I look forward to hearing the stories of ho...w God transforms us through this part of our journey. Everyone is welcome.
