HEADS UP! I-435 on the east side will be closed this weekend from 50 Highway in Raytown south to the Grandview Triangle, so plan your travel accordingly if you are planning to run at the Truman Sports Complex in the morning or otherwise travel on the east side of the city. The starting horn waits for no one!

Beat the heat this summer at the Midnight Run 5K/10K for Special Olympics on July 24!This event is presented by the Leawood Police Department, a participating agency in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Kansas, and features a fast course along Tomahawk Creek Parkway in Leawood. Your participation will help raise money for Special Olympics and finishers in both the 5K and 10K Run/Walk will receive a custom finishers medal and compete for age group and overall awards! The 10th Annual Outpacing Melanoma 5K will be on August 22 in Corporate Woods. Join them virtually or in person for this well organized event that raises funds for the Richard A. The Veterans Day 5K raises funds for the VFW Foundation, which fills in governmental assistance gaps for troops abroad, military families back in the U.S. and America’s often-forgotten veterans. We are running in honor of Ed Burnham, a World War II veteran and long time employee of the VFW, who took up running in retirement and completed hundreds of races from 5Ks to marathons, all over the world, before passing away four years ago at the age of 97. He was a tremendous inspiration to many area runners and walkers of all ages and is missed by those of us who enjoyed seeing him at area races. https://runsignup.com/Race/MO/Parkville/veteransdayKC5K

Packet pickup for the Monster Dash 5K will be drive through only on Friday from 2-6pm at the KC Running Company store at 200 E 135th St. in KCMO and on race morning at the race site. There is still time to sign up at www.kcmonsterdash.com.

The Whiskey Run 5K will be held on Sunday, November 22 in Martin City. Organizers are still working on other event details but they wanted to get the new date to you if you have already signed up or still want to sign up to join us! More information to follow!

Well, the Chiefs have raised the Run it Back Challenge goal for Week 7, scoring 43 points against the Broncos in the snow in Denver. You can start inputting distances for Week 7 tomorrow and you have seven days through next Sunday to get it done! Good luck!
