Our long-time KCRunClub member and dear friend, Chuck Martin, had a recent bicycle accident that has left him with injuries and medical bills that are climbing. On top of that he may be missing work for a time. This is in addition to the medical bills he has incurred for cancer treatments that he has stoically been maintaining on his own. Kansas City Running Club would like to thank Michael Steele for all his years of faithful service while we also welcome Katherine Preston Wilcox as our new Mond...ay Night Group Run Leader. Katherine will be starting Monday, April 19th. The run will still begin at 6pm from the Brooksider Sportsbar and Grill. Here are a few words from Katherine: Greetings All! Thanks for the opportunity to serve as the MNR leader. Though we have likely shared a KC trail or road in the past few years, I’m looking forward to establishing a deeper connection with you through our vibrant running community. I’ve loved running since I can remember but I’ll assign middle school cross country as the official starting line. Over the years my relationship with running has morphed from a competitive obsession into a reliable, honest friend. I still sign up for 5k, 10k, half marathon races throughout the year but at this point in my life it’s about the journey (I find I’m my best self when I’m training for a run) not how fast I can make it to the finish line. Last year, with a bunch of pandemic induced free time on my calendar, I signed up and trained for my first marathon. On 10/10/2020, carrying water, gels and a well-marked bathroom map on my back, I ran 26.2 miles with my husband and sister. Like every other milestone in this sport my status as a lifer was further solidified by crossing that finish line. My old friend, Running, and I are looking forward to the miles ahead and excited to share many of them with you! Katherine Wilcox

Many from our group are running Gobbler Grind Marathon on Sunday so it will be a smaller group on Sat. The weather is looking perfect! Meet at 7am, Aixois, 55th and Brookside for a 6 mile run out and back on the Trolley Trail.

Join us at 7am, at Aixois, 55th and Brookside for a long run. Everyone is welcome. The plan is for 13.1 this Saturday AKA the virtual KC Marathon Half. The real half marathon doesn't come south of the plaza and I want to keep water stops south of the plaza to make sure they stay put. This route is a large portion of the marathon route along some roads we have run before and some we have not.
