Our members are important to us, so the Media Mix board has decided to start highlighting some of the amazing talent in the Kansas City media community. Our first Member Spotlight is OUTFRONT Media’s Sales Director, Renea Richards. This inspiring leader just celebrated a milestone birthday and has been a part of the Outfront team for almost 15 years. Renea has been a supporter of Media Mix and has mentored at a previous event for us. We appreciate her positive attitude and the knowledge and experience she brings to our members.

Our friend John Pink Baker Jr took his last breath in the early morning hours of December 26, 2020, at home with his loved ones by his side. Over the past 10 years Johnny survived prostate cancer and stage 4 lymphoma. He faced those maladies without ever uttering a complaint. Through it all it was his strong heart that kept him going. It didn’t take a stranger long to notice the heart of the man. His friends and loved ones consistently described him as loyal, dedicated, resp...ectful and genuine. You just rarely, if ever, heard anyone have a bad thing to say about Johnny. We are in awe of how much he was respected and admired in life and business. Johnny enjoyed a good conversation over a meal with friends and could talk and laugh till the wee hours of the morning. He looked forward to his monthly poker group of 35 years, lunch with his Rockhurst College friends and dinners with the ‘Jolly Boys’. Most of all he loved a night with his wife after phoning all the kids to make sure they were safe and sound, his Jack Daniels on the rocks and watching their favorite shows together. He lived his life on his own terms and shared that wonderful trait with his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with John’s family.

Looking back at 2020, COVID-19 has disrupted nearly everything. A lot of us have learned to love the flexibility around working remotely, we all purchased more online, and we became a stronger Kansas City community. While we don't know what the future holds, take a moment to press pause and reflect on all we've been through together (and apart). We absolutely miss all our members and we are looking forward to seeing you all in 2021, virtually or in person! Wishing everyone a Happy New Year from all of us!

Look at these adorable faces! Media Mix recently visited Operation Breakthrough and had a chance to provide "Brownies and Bucks" to our favorite non-profit. 2020 hasn’t been easy, but our team was able to pull off our annual golf tournament with amazing attendance, which in turn allowed us to donate $13,000 to Operation Breakthrough. We were also able to congratulate our 2020 Shining Stars, DieErin Jamison and Isaac Beougher. It was a fun celebration and we are thankful we were able to help out again this year!

Yeah! It's Friday and we’d like to introduce you to Elena Detrixhe and Natasha Cottrell. Both of these ladies have been huge supporters of Media Mix over the years and are excited to get more of the media community involved. Elena’s specialty is programs and event planning. She is working with the programs team on some great networking and educational ideas that will be coming your way soon. Natasha’s focus this year is communication her goal is to make sure you are informed about what’s happening, and that your opinions are heard and acknowledged. Greg Blessen, one of the Media Greats in Kansas City, officially retired from WDAF-TV FOX4 this week. Greg was an Account Executive at FOX4 for 43 years! Believe it or not, FOX4 was his only place of employment! Greg was honored with the Media Mix Legends Award a couple years back. Greg was fresh from the Mizzou campus when he entered the media sales business and has enjoyed helping businesses grow and making some lifelong friends along the way. He loved the TV business so ...much that he even produced a TV commercial as a way to propose to his wife! He had a spot produced and purchased a commercial within Star Search, a show from the 80s! Fortunately for Greg, Diana said YES! Greg is also an antique collector, so as a thank you for his four decades of service, FOX 4 had an art piece created using original props from the FOX4 set. Cheers to you Greg! We will miss you, and wish you nothing but the best in retirement!
