An up-lifting experience
Please join us, wearing your mask at the door. It may be removed when you are in your space, which will be socially-distanced.. (The teacher is fully vaccinated.)
- Yunuen https://instagram.com/inquisicion.art
Mask wearing and the breath In the yoga world, prana has often been wrongly translated into the word oxygen. Prana is our life force and is only partly related ...to oxygen. Oxygen has received too much of a good rap, but carbon dioxide may have received too much of a bad rap. One of the concepts in James Nestor’s book, Breath, relates to the value of carbon dioxide, CO2. It turns out that increasing our CO2 levels actually leads to healing and even increased peak performance. If we slow our breath down, if we retain our breath out on an exhale, or if we chant or sing long-duration sounds, then our CO2 levels will rise. Oxygen levels do not drop appreciably. The main physiologic drive for breathing is the level of CO2 in our blood, not the level of oxygen. When our CO2 levels rise, we tend to feel that panicky out-of-breath feeling. In order to tolerate and therefore benefit from higher levels of CO2, we need to become comfortable with the sensations of higher levels of CO2. Nestor relates various methods in his book for how to train oneself to accustom to higher levels of CO2. Initially it feels really uncomfortable, but eventually the benefits arise. Wearing a face mask, for a healthy person with normal lung oxygenation and blood, primarily alters our CO2 levels, not our O2 levels. When we have the urge to rip the mask off, it’s that intolerance for this change in CO2 and humidity of our inhaled breath. So maybe this whole mask-wearing thing is some Higher Intelligence at work trying to heal us and teach us how to breathe better. Just a thought.

No Tantric Burgers for solstice this year. Hmmmm. I wonder if Karta Purkh Singh would be interested in making us a batch for Langar next Sunday.
Wahe Guru! In addition to our usual single guest rooms, we now have 2 guest apartments. So if you have been thinking about taking a yoga retreat, or just chilling out at #kundaliniyogakansascity aka #sattirathashram , now is the best time. If you are in Kundalini Yoga Teachers Training and want to fulfill the 20 yoga class and 5 sadhana requirements, we suggest joining us on a Sunday, doing morning sadhana with us on Monday and Tuesday, and taking the 8 am and 7 pm yoga classes in Monday. Schedule a private Gong Bath with KartaPurkh Khalsa, or a Private Tantric Numerology class with SatInder Khalsa. Call (816)561-5337 to make your reservation for a guest stay or for an interview re moving into one of the apartments. Here are a few photos of the 2 apartments.
Happy Holidays! Here is Matamandir Singh, one of our favorite artists, who visited Sat Tirath ashram awhile back. He brought several instruments for students to play. Lots of fun!
From my wise teacher of decades....
In the final hours of Level 1 Kundalini Yoga Teachers Training this weekend, KartaPurkh Khalsa is creatively wearing his mask.
This is based on Tantric Numerology.
Sat Nam, We want our students and teachers to stay healthy. Yoga and meditation surely help, but we are also following guidelines to prevent spread of Covid19. Teachers’ and students’ temperatures will be taken at the door. Please wear your mask to and from classes and be sure to keep 6 feet distance from your neighbors. Guidelines given by the Kansas City Health Department are that you may remove your mask while sitting in your space, as long as you are property distanced ...6 feet from your neighbors. The large yoga room is 18 feet wide and 30 feet long, so we can accommodate 10 students there, 3 across and 3 or 4 deep. We can open the doors to the adjacent small yoga room for larger special events. Please pre-register and pay for classes on www.kckundaliniyoga.org. Single classes are $12. Packages of 6 for $60 or 12 for $100 classes save time and money. Checks are welcome, too. Two bathrooms are easily accessible and hand sanitizer is everywhere. Please bring your own water container and yoga mat. We can provide both if you don’t have them. Call 816-561-5337 or message us to let us know when you are coming to class or to request the code for virtual classes. We truly appreciate you and your cooperation with these requirements. Together we will be safe. See more

Kundalini Yoga and Meditation facilitate generational healing.
Sitting on the porch swing, enjoying a soft rain after raking leaves from the street and sidewalk. Such a blissful time of gratitude and peace. Soon the plants and pillows will be brought inside for another winter.
The Level 2 Authentic Relationships class enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by Baljit Singh’s Korma Sutra Restaurant. We spaced ourselves as we enjoyed great discussion among friends.
This was our first Level 2 Teachers Training class. Conscious Communication in 2010. What a great orientation! KartaPurkh Khalsa and I have conducted 2 Level 2s nearly every year since then and have appreciated every one.
I enjoyed a beautiful walk-about through the Sat Tirath Ashram’s Gardens before harvesting basil this morning.
