A big congrats to young Alberto Medina on joining his father and older brother in the ranks of black belt. He’s been training for over 8 years and is a great leader and instructor in our dojo. He definitely earned it!!!

Recently, we started a nonprofit thru the dojo called The Sankofa Initiative (more info soon!) and today we were blessed to participate in the 2nd Paseo Stairs Service Day. This is a great effort led by Chris Goode Ruby Jean's Juicery and has the potential to be huge for KC. Glad to be a part of the real work. Action lasts longer than posts and debates in the comment section.

After 6 hours of constant work, we’ve got some well deserved new Black Belts! We are extremely proud of all of these students and appreciative of their dedication to the art and our dojo. Today was AMAZING! Our youth leadership group, Sankofa (more info soon), was blessed to absorb so many gems from awesome @evayogalove! From the delicious vegan tacos, to the countless life lessons, everyone left full and inspired. Thank you Eva for your time and spirit and thank you to our funders @leanlabed and @surge_institute! Your contributions make all this possible!

The youth are the leaders. So proud of this group of youngsters that earned their next ranks this past weekend. We had to innovate, but Corona can’t keep us down! Onwards and upwards!!!

Excited to announce that I will be returning to the world of education this year at @kcgirlsprep as a martial arts enrichment teacher. It’s hard to put into words how much of a blessing I feel with this opportunity. It’s a chance to combine so many of my passions into one space and I am truly honored to be a part of the KCGPA family. Huge shoutout to my @surge_institute family that pushed me along the away.
