We have been using disposable containers throughout the pandemic to keep everyone safe, but it is an ongoing expense for us. Origin story. Every meal we serve is a protest. We should be feeding people not bombing people.

We fully intend to continue to share free meals, produce, clothes, and hygiene products for the coming weeks. The way we see, we are all in need of help and solidarity now more than ever. We had a very successful meal yesterday, making sure to take extra precautions necessary to keep all of our volunteers and community safe in the wake of COVID-19. For the time being we will only be serving food that has been contained or wrapped before serving. To avoid the line we typically... see we ask that patrons stand apart in smaller groups and we will have volunteers bring you hot food as needed. Our available produce will be distributed in individual prepared grocery bags with a little bit of whatever we received that day. We will have one volunteer working the water cooler and bring water to people as needed. We intend to have water bottles available as an alternative, if anybody is willing to donate some, it would be incredibly helpful! And of course we are handling our food preparation with extreme caution with volunteers washing their hands frequently and using food service gloves while cooking. If you have any way that you can assist Food Not Bombs, either with your time as a volunteer or donations of items or cash, please reach out to us here. And if you would like to share a free meal with us and grab some free groceries, we are at Independence and Monroe in Northeast Kansas City, every Sunday at 4PM. Our slogan has always been "Solidarity Not Charity". Nobody is denied food if they want it. We make food for everybody. And everybody who comes brings us a box of food, helps us cook, eats a meal, or sits down to chat with us helps make it happen. We are facing a time where the failures of capitalism come to light more than ever and it is up to us all to stand with and support our community in trying times.

DUE TO THE WEATHER: Today’s food sharing has been cancelled. We really try to serve regardless of weather but it’s become too hazardous for us to go about our work. We’ll see you all next Sunday at 4pm!

The weather was great for Sunday’s food share of yellow rice, squash and sweet potato curry, herb roasted carrots and cabbage, savory beans, and blueberry banana cake. Warm days won’t last for long. We always have clothing available to all whenever we have it, but we rely on community clothing donations to make that happen! The need for Warm winter clothing is growing- do you have any to spare?

Sunday was rainy and dreary, but we were out will warm plates of fajita rice & quinoa, roasted potatoes, cucumber apple salad, fruit, toast and coffee cake. Produce and bread are available to all.

Another world is possible!

On Sunday we shared split pea stew on rice, salad, fresh fruit, spicy pickled cucumbers and onions, toast and mocha banana cake. Clothes, produce and bread is always available to all.

Every Sunday we share hot plant-based meals, produce, bread, clothes and more on the public sidewalk to anyone without restriction. Anyone and everyone is welcome.

With a bit of a break in the heat, we had a much bigger turnout and a lot of hungry and thirsty people. We had savory pasta, roasted vegetables, open faced guacamole sandwiches, fruit and strawberry peach cake for everyone. We also had clothes, books and groceries available to all. We do our best to make sure we have more than just food available every week. Items like clothes, toiletries and books are very popular, but like everything we do, we rely on donations and your support.

Tonight!!!!! Food Not Bombs will be here with free vegan food, cold drinks, personal care products, flashlights, and rain ponchos, and loaves of bread, and Really Free Market will be here with lots of stuff too! Come hang out!

On this cloudy Sunday we shared bright plates of super savory yellow coconut Thai curry, fajita corn, turmeric lentils and rice, ripe fruit salad and mocha banana cake with homemade icing. Produce and bread is always available to all. The quality and amount of food we can share depends entirely on your donations! Thanks to everyone who’s thought to pass things on to us.
