Sometimes we get to offer something truly important. The Stout Diaries definitely qualify. Lt. Cdr. George Leslie Stout was an important member of The Monuments Men. George kept a meticulous diary of his service in country and we were chosen to sell them at auction. Even during a pandemic the diaries were hotly contested. ... There were 80 institutions, collectors, dealers and historians watching them during the auction from 19 states, the District of Columbia and the United Kingdom. They had 3,284 lot views and they garnered 127 bids. Those 127 bids equaled $46,250 in high bids. There were several institutions from across the country bidding on the diaries and we are proud to say that they have been delivered to one of those institutions.
