one of my broody Sebs hatched her ONE remaining egg today... hope it stays cozy underneath mom for the night. In the incubator, some experimentals of mine are hatching: Splash Naked Neck Banty x Black Cochin banty. I bet they will be cute. Fingers crossed for the Welsummers (also due) . Rescue turkeys are doing okay. Sheep and goats finally came out of hiding once the snow stopped. Weird day.
... and it is snowing. Thankfully it was so warm yesterday that all ground surfaces will melt the snow, but still!
three "rescue turkeys" from the auction yesterday. Cheap and half dead are looking revived after food and water , peace and quiet. I let them out of the cage today in the maternity shed so they could scratch around. I think they are Broad Breasted Whites.
Here is one of my new experimentals for this year: Aloha x Tolbunt Frizzled Polish. Colorful and fun! They should start laying soon and I will test incubate to determine if patterning remains constant.
Ducks are also separated into breeding groups: Khaki Campbells, Welsh Harlequin, Muskovy, Call Duck, and may also have Cayuga eggs again this year. If you want to go on the waiting list for hatching eggs, please let me know.
All the turkeys are separated into their breeding groups. I should have Royal Palm, Sweetgrass aka Calico, and Bourbon Red turkey hatching eggs this year! They have not started laying yet, but should soon. I will collect eggs & test for fertility first. If you would like to be on the waiting list for fertile turkey eggs, let me know.
