I am so happy Target does this! Please take advantage and change out your expired car seats! I work collision cases, so unfortunately, can say with knowledge, your decision on how you secure your children in a vehicle is a life or death decision. No matter how short the ride, how slow the car is going, whether or not they are screaming for a bottle, whether or not their friends' parents are making other choices - put them in a proper carseat / booster and keep them there. ... It is your responsibility as their parent. Believe me, even in a slow moving accident (even if your vehicle is stopped and just hit by another vehicle), no matter how strong you are, you WILL NOT be able to safely hold on to a child on your lap. PLEASE properly buckle your kids in an appropriate car seat for their height and weight (they need a booster until they are 4'9" and around 80 pounds).... and for goodness sake, STOP putting your child in the front seat. Airbags seriously injure adult skulls, your child's skull (and neck, spinal cord, back, arms, hands...) has no chance. https://www.target.com/c/car-seat-trade-in-event/-/N-v41nu

Thank you Cole County attorneys for electing me to serve as Secretary/Treasurer of the Cole County Bar for 2018. The attorneys practicing in Cole County understand that zealous advocacy can still be accomplished through professionalism and respect for opposing counsel. I appreciate that about our local bar and am happy to serve as an officer in 2018.

Tim and I are putting the final touches on our presentation this morning. We are happy to present this class on Representing Nursing Home Residents to other lawyers of the Missouri Bar. It has been great to work with attorney Stephen Stark, who will shed light on Medicaid issues, the admissions process and considerations that go along with diminished capacity, while Tim and I will focus more on litigation, such as in neglect and abuse situations.

My law partner gives good advice! If you are in a collision, it's best to hold off on posting to social media. It's pretty common for me to hear from clients that they did not realize how bad they were hurt until days or weeks later. Sometimes we win the battle on whether Facebook posts may be introduced at trial, sometimes not.

This news story caught my attention the other day. I'm working on an accident case involving a young driver and it made me think of the story. If you are a parent of a teen driver, check out this website: http://www.driveithome.org/. It provides suggested topics to discuss with your teen driver and gives information about monitoring technology.

Did anyone happen to see a collision on Friday morning (June 2) around 8:00 am at the intersection of Broadway and W. McCarty St? If so, I'd appreciate a call - 573-635-7977. Thanks!

I LOVE that Target is doing this!! Car seats expire for a reason. Please do not buckle your kids into an expired car seat. An injury (or worse) costs more than a new car seat. Donating or selling an expired car seat just puts it in use for another child. This program provides a great opportunity to recycle that old car seat and save 20% on a new one! Looks like it runs through April 30th. https://corporate.target.com//04/terracycle-car-seat-trade

Now is a good time to work on your document-based legal needs (estate planning, contracts, leases, etc.). The Courts are shut down (for the most part), so that leaves plenty of time for document drafting. I'm working from home - as are our paralegals. If you have any legal document needs, please do not hesitate to email - [email protected]. To make sure I'm following all of the ethical rules, pursuant to Rule 4.7: The choice of a lawyer is an important decision and should not be based solely upon advertisements.

Our phone system has been inoperable since Monday and will continue to be down for possibly a few days yet. Our office building is also closed at least through... Friday morning. If you have been trying to reach us without success, we apologize! We are receiving emails. If you need immediate assistance, you may email [email protected]. Sorry for the inconvenience! See more

It's a great time to check your car seats to make sure they have not expired! If they have, Target will recycle them and give you a 20% off coupon on the purchase of a new car seat. Keep those kiddos safe!

I was happy to serve the Missouri Bar as a speaker recently on the topic of the initial consultation / tips for helping personal injury and automobile accident clients. I was even happier when I received the thank you gift in the mail today! PERFECT timing!
