A medication that does one thing for people does not necessarily do the same for our pets. During #NationalPoisonPreventionWeek, discover common human me...dications that can poison your pet and how you can keep them safe by following these simple guidelines: http://bit.ly/2Qa33qt PLEASE NOTE: While Tramadol and others on this list are also used in veterinary medicine, these are 10 of the most common human medication complaints as reported by the Animal Poison Control Center. As always, it’s best to store human medication pills in places where pets cannot access them and to check with your veterinarian if you suspect your pet may have gotten into your human medication.

KCVC Family, We are excited to announce that as of last week, we have started offering TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) as a surgical option for patients with a torn cranial cruciate ligament. TPLO is considered the gold standard for cranial cruciate ligament tears, especially in young, active, large breed patients. In addition, we will continue to offer the lateral fabellar suture repair for those patients whose lifestyle, or size, may not warrant a TPLO be performed. Call and schedule a consult with Dr. Erdozain at 816.333.4330. For more information about the TPLO procedure, click on the link below. https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx

We’ve suspended our evening hours until further notice. Our current hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon.

Kansas City Veterinary Care, L.C. 09.07.2020

To help our clients and our staff remain healthy during the COVID-19 Pandemic we are making some changes to our procedures and our hours of operation. If you have symptoms of acute respiratory illness, you should self-quarantine or seek medical attention as stated by the CDC. We know that some of you may end up quarantined or stuck at home sick. We still want to help you the best we can. Some choices are as follows:... Identify another person who is willing and able to transport your pet to our office. With notice, we will meet them in the parking lot. This will become a drop-off appointment. We are not allowing owners or pet care takers to enter the building. We request that you call our practice when you arrive for your appointment. The Technician will then call you to get a brief history of what brings you in with your pet today. The Technician will then retrieve your pet from your car, and we’ll perform a physical exam in the hospital. The doctor will call you at that time to discuss any findings and the plan moving forward. Once the exam is complete, we will process payment over the phone. The Technician will bring your pet back to the car for you along with your receipt, foods and/or medications as needed. We can arrange to deliver needed food/medications to your door by utilizing our online store, https://kansascityvetcare.securevetsource.com/ . Moving forward our new hours will be Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Given this is a rapidly developing situation, we will continue to monitor developments and update our course of action as new information becomes available through the CDC. We know it’s a stressful time, but please believe that your pets are safe and that you are safe around your pets. If you have any more questions, we’re here to help! Stay healthy, The Kansas City Veterinary Care Team
