As someone who spend many years diving in Hawaii both on Oahu and the Big Island and working with exporters and the collectors, this is a huge blow to your hobby. I know the drumbeat has been all about the environment, be it live rock collection ( which most hobbyists do not understand) and aqua culture, which has advanced to a fantastic degree, Hawaii has been the most monitored and regulated fisheries in the world! Unfortunately, the environmentalists along with deep pocket silent partners have taken control of this issue. Look for Yellow Tang prices and other endemic fish to skyrocket until the supply is depleted.

Fall is definitely upon us. With cooler temps comes a change in the regiments for our ponds. Now is the time to transition from summer to fall food. Fall food is designed to be more easily digested with their slowing metabolism. The temperature of your pond water will determine when you transition, how much you feed and when to stop. You want this process to be gradual. Water temps between 60-50 call for "fall food", temps below 50 and they won't want to eat as much because their bodies don't require it. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR FISH, THEY ARE ALWAYS AN INDICATOR when action is or no longer needed. And as you can tell from pics, my hungry hippos are still begging to be fed - K
