A few photos of a carriage house designed as a flex space for some great clients. It has a compact but full kitchen and full bath. It serves as an entertaining space, meeting space, home office, and even guest quarters. The shelves open to reveal Murphy beds.

I don't do a very good job of posting, so I'm late with this, but we were awarded the Best of Houzz for 2017! Here is the press release from Houzz: "Houzz Announces Best Of Houzz 2017 Winners Annual Survey and Analysis of Community of Over 40 Million Monthly Users Reveals the Top-Rated Home Remodeling Professionals and Most Popular Home Designs... Houzz Inc., the leading platform for home renovation and design, today announced the community’s picks for Best Of Houzz 2017, a homeowner-to-homeowner guide to the top home builders, architects, interior designers, landscape pros and other residential remodeling professionals on Houzz from cabinetry or roofing pros to painters. We are so pleased to award Best of Houzz 2017 to this incredible group of talented and customer-focused professionals, said Liza Hausman, vice president of Industry Marketing for Houzz. Each of these businesses was singled out for recognition by our community of homeowners and design enthusiasts for helping to turn their home improvement dreams into reality." The Best Of Houzz is awarded annually in three categories: Design, Customer Service and Photography. Design award winners’ work was the most popular among the more than 40 million monthly users on Houzz. Customer Service honors are based on several factors, including the number and quality of recent client reviews. Architecture and interior design photographers whose images were most popular are recognized with the Photography award. A Best Of Houzz 2017 badge appears on winners’ profiles, as a sign of their commitment to excellence. These badges help homeowners identify popular and top-rated home professionals in every metro area on Houzz. Winners will be announced globally throughout the month. Do you want to bring more natural light and heat into your home during the cold winter months? Take your window screens out and store them until it's time to open the windows again. I've done this for the past few years, and it really does help. I tag each screen (not with masking tape as in the article, but with a tag that I tie to the screen) and store all of them in one big "bag" that I made by folding and old queen size sheet in half lengthwise, then sewing it down one side and across the bottom, leaving it open at the top. It's big enough to store all of our screens in. Here is more information: http://www.houzz.com//why-cleaning-window-screens-should-b

Earlier this year, Houzz was awarded the Best App of 2016 by Google. It’s my favorite app for working with clients on the design of their new custom home or the remodel or addition to their existing home. In a sense, it is the modern version of the scrapbook full of magazine clippings from the past. But it has so much more to offer. You can browse thousands of photos and create your own scrapbooks, or ideabooks as Houzz calls them, by saving photos of rooms, products, c...olors or whatever you like. You can then share those ideabooks with your architect or designer. It helps to add a comment to each photo explaining what it is in the photo that you like the cabinets, the overall feel of the room, the color of the walls, the stone used on the exterior, etc. Your architect or designer can use the contents of your ideabooks to get a better feel for the style you want for your home. You can also purchase some of the items you see in the photos from the Houzz shop, or find professionals to help you with your projects. You can find my profile at: http://www.houzz.com//sherriwe/sherri-l-weaver-design-llc. I hope to see you on Houzz soon! See more

Consumer Reports has a good article on bathrooms that are easier for all members of the family to use. It has some nice photos that show how gorgeous these spaces can be. Here is a link to the article: http://www.consumerreports.org//create-a-beautif/index.htm. The article was also published in the September 2015 issue of the print magazine Consumer Reports.
