What did you do for National Quilting Day? I didn't really do any piecing.. Dyeing light creations and family came for a visit. I finished the edges of some fabric he's going to dye. Should make it easier for him. We brainstormed a bit... Lot's of ideas... Good ideas. We have a little research to do .. we'll just have to wait and see..
Feel free to share the hugs! #nationalquiltingday #kathiebeltz #kathiebeltzquiltdesigns #quilts #quilting #quiltsofinstagram #quiltersofinstagram #ilovetoquilt #quiltersgonnaquilt #quiltingismypassion #quiltingismytherapy #quiltingtherapy #ihavethisthingwithquilts #quiltlove
35 degrees and snow .. I wonder how much snow there would have been if it had been below freezing. We've had about 5 inches of rain in the last week.
What do you do when you're having thunder storms and can't plug in the machines? I decided to tackle the scrap bin, I t was on my to do list for this fall anyway. This thing was stuffed with all kinds of stuff. Denim jeans. Pieces of denim, pant legs, stray blocks. I think I may have found the binding to a quilt I had lost. Anyway.. it's all sorted and pressed waiting for cutting into something useable. Click on photo for more info.
I almost forgot to post this. I think you can read the info on the ruler in the first picture.
Getting camp ready... And some relaxing going on!!
Not the best angle for a video.. but it's the best I could do on my own. I'm using a applique ruler that fits around the foot of the machine. I love using it for detail work. I still have a bit of detail work to do on this one. This one has lots of details.
Just a short video
Ok so... I was looking at these blocks on the left. I couldn't wait. So I cut them and played a few minutes. The quilt will look something like the photo on the right. Very busy but perfect for a drag about quilt.
No photos to share today.. just a little update. Last week there was barely any time for stitching. The longarm needed some maintenance and made some adjustments to the table. All adjusted and level. Today I managed to finish up the stitch n ditch . Next... I need to stabilize the side borders a bit more. I've decided to turn the quilt at the end to finish those borders last. Then I can start quilting the body of the quilt. I haven't pieced any of those ugly blocks. Anyone ever intentionally make a ugly quilt. ? Till next time.!!
These are the blocks I was working on in the video. I know their kinda ugly!! They will get cut in half both ways ... Sorted and rearranged before it's finished. There will be 21 of them before cutting them. I know it's very busy! I think it will finish at a crib size or a nice lap size. Just a nice little utility quilt. I enjoy these no thought kind of projects to unwind with. My sewing studio is not in my home, it's actually on another property... It's close walking dist...ance tho. The upside is I have a ton of space to create in. The downside is.. I miss the found sewing time. Like when you're doing laundry or late night when you can't sleep.. you know the odd times. I have two places to keep clean.. and two utilities. The creative space more than makes up for the downside tho. Some weeks I only have four or five hours to create. Going to be making some time changes . Off to create something!!! Till next time. See more
A couple weeks ago I was playing with video. I realized that I didn't post this one... So here you go.!!
