Missouri homeschool requirements in a nutshell: 1000 hours total per school year. At least 600 of those in core subjects (math, social studies, science, language arts, reading). At least 400 of those at your home location. Track your hours, track your lessons, keep work samples. If you need help, we're here for you!... #journeyoutpost #missouri #homeschool #keepitsimple

Wisdom for every homeschooler... Today we hear people say, "stay in your own lane" but when I was in kindergarten in 1955, teachers used to say, "keep your eyes on your own paper and don't look at your neighbor's work!" They were right then. They're right now. STOP LOOKING at what other homeschoolers are doing. You've heard the old saying, "comparison is the death of contentment." Never was that more true than in homeschooling. If you look at Pinterest or Facebook you'll get ...a few good ideas, but you'll also get depressed: Why can't I have a beautiful, dedicated homeschool room instead of the dining room table? I guess I'm not doing enough. I'm must not be doing it right. Why can't I be more creative like Lisa? Why aren't my children eager readers? I wish I could afford that fancy curriculum. Why can't I have a BFF to be my homeschooling mentor? Stop it! You do what the Lord's put in front of YOU and YOUR CHILDREN with the resources he's given you today! Be grateful for all that you DO have. He knows you. He knows your children. He has a wonderful plan. Keep your eyes on your own paper. Stay in your own lane. Now... go make some homeschool memories. It's a beautiful day. From Steve Lambert #homeschool #kcmo #journeyoutpost

Homeschool Princess... Did you ever pretend you were a queen, or perhaps a princess? How about a movie star? Did you know you have something in common with royalty and Academy Award-winning actresses? Your children have a private tutor! Only a tiny percentage of all the children ever born in history received any sort of formal education. And of those, only one child in 10,000 lived the privileged life of having a private tutor. Instead of having to sit in a classroom of 30 c...hildren while the teacher tries to make sure even the least interested child isn't left behind, your children enjoy the privilege of one-on-one dialogue and personal attention from their tutor every single day. You might want to put on a make-believe tiara today. And maybe a little extra lipstick and eyeliner while you're at it. Hold your head high. Your children are blessed beyond words to have YOU for their tutor! From Steve Lambert #homeschool #kcmo #journeyoutpost #mom

Journey Outpost 17.04.2021

Registration is open for 2021-2022 classes! Current listings are our core offerings for 8th-12th graders, but watch for more classes for all ages to be added in the coming weeks! Classes are limited to 10 students, with a minimum of 5 students. Class prices include all materials. Only the literature class will require additional books which can easily be obtained at the library or through other low-cost options. Each week the student will receive focused assignments for the ...week and we will discuss the material in class the following week. Through this process, students will learn to analyze information and become great thinkers, a skill that is highly valuable throughout life. Although each class can be taken independently, the classes are designed to flow together and complement each other. To provide a cohesive experience for students and parents, all class communication will take place in Google Classroom. This will give us a streamlined platform for assignments, messages and grades. Other classes will be added in the coming weeks, but these will be the core. If there is something specific you are looking for, please ask! Also, we are looking for teachers for short-term and year-long classes. We'd love to add month-long unit studies to our offerings! Class descriptions can be found at https://journeyoutpost.wordpress.com/2021-2022-classes/. Here is the link to sign up: https://forms.gle/azUTqQjpqPmv7acbA
